RACE GROUPS (subject to change)

The following 9 Groups are planned for HF44. Groups/Classes are subject to being combined/changed, once all entries are evaluated. If you are unsure which group you should be in please use the "need classing" option in the registration form. 

B-Sedans: U2.5 Trans-Am / IMSA RS Cars
A run group for volume-produced, under 2.5-liter compact sedans from the 60’s, through the 80’s, as eligible for the SCCA U2.5L Trans Am and the IMSA RS Series. Although most entries will be over 1.3 liters, we will have a Class for under 1.3-liter sedans as well (i.e. Mini Cooper, Hillman Imp, etc.) 

NO SLICKS PERMITTED.     Lap times typically: (1:03 – 1:10) 

An Alfa Celebration / All Alfas
As the HF44 “Featured Marque” all Alfa Romeo entries will race in this dedicated run group during the entire Historic Festival weekend. We will run all Alfa’s in two Classes: Under 1.3 liter and Over 1.3-liter cars.  

NO SLICKS PERMITTED.   

Jim Haynes Memorial for Formula Juniors
A run group that has been very popular at prior Historic Festivals, the Formula Juniors will again be in a dedicated run group, divided into two Classes: “Front Engine and Rear Engine"  

20th Century Classic Competition Cars (VSCCA/Slower Production Cars)
A more traditional HF run group, featuring Pre-War and Early Post-War type cars, as well as production cars representative of VSCCA entries from Historic Festivals in the past.     

NO SLICKS PERMITTED.     Lap times typically: (1:07 – 1:20)

Historic Trans-Am
The Historic Trans Am group is back at the HF44, after a four-year absence. Representing the golden age of Trans American (Trans Am) racing (1966 - 1972), the actual factory-backed muscle cars that raced in the original series will be on-track in their own dedicated run group. 

GT & Sporting Cars – Big-Bore / Air cooled Porsches 
(Period-Correct Slicks Allowed)
A run group consisting primarily of over 3-liter production sports and GT cars (big-bore), although including some faster under 3-liter cars. American V-8 production cars and “Air-Cooled” Porsches will make up the majority of the run group. Entries will have the choice to run on period-correct slicks or treaded tires and will be classed accordingly.     

Lap times typically: (:57 – 1:05)   

Mid-Century Production GT / Sports Cars / Sports Racing Cars
A run group consisting of faster production sports and GT cars, primarily 2 liters to 3 liters (mid-bore), although including some faster under 2-liter cars. Also included will be some 60’s -era sports racers, running on treaded tires.     

NO SLICKS PERMITTED.     Lap times typically: (:58 – 1:09)

Wings / Slicks & Formula Fords (Period-Correct Slicks Allowed)
A very popular run group at the Historic Festival, consisting of Formula Cars and Sports Racers from the 70’s and 80’s, running on period-correct slicks. Also included in this run group are Formula Fords, running in their own designated Class.      

Historic World Challenge Cars  (Period-Correct Slicks Allowed)
This popular run group returns to the Historic Festival, representing an era of SCCA World Challenge racing cars that were popular with fans and competitors alike in the final decades of the 20th Century and into the new Millennium.
