GPX Tour to Frazier Park and Castaic

Route 66 may be historic, but Hwy 33 is epic. It twists and turns past Lake Casitas then turns north on the outskirts of Ojai as the Maricopa Hwy . It climbs and climbs through the Sespe Wilderness, home of many California Condors. Over Pine Mountain Summit, 5080',  many storms stop here, there is a visible change in the vegetation from desert Southern California to greener Central California. Descending down to a right turn on Lockwood Valley Road the road traverses a high rift valley dotted with cattle and stream crossings. Another crossing you may not notice is the San Andreas Fault before arriving in Frazier Park for Lunch at Big John's Grill.

After lunch head south along side I-5  on Peace Valley Road towards Gorman. Under the freeway and turn right on Gorman Post Road to Hwy 138 east. Still along The San Andreas Fault Zone  past Quail Lake, exit onto historic Old Ridge Route Road turning left  at the road sign that says begin "un-maintained section". Following Pine Mountain Road (N2) to Lake Hughes Road. Ultimately descending down past Lake Castaic, roll on down to where the tour ends  back at Interstate 5.
