Enjoy a fantastic drive to Morro Bay with a Saturday night dinner. Sunday drive north to view the elephant seal rookery at San Simeon or other attractions in the area.
Meet at the Parking Lot at Carrow's Restaurant, 2401 Harbor Blvd, Ventura, CA 93001 ( Exit at Seaward Ave off the 101 and turn left, cross the Freeway and left again on Harbor Blvd.) Check in by 8:00 and depart 9:00. Call me if you are going to be late 562-305-8002.
The route proceeds up scenic State Hwy 33. After crossing the San Andreas Fault, there will be a rest stop at Santa Barbara Pistachio https://www.santabarbarapistachios.com/ then go through Maricopa and Taft. There will be a lunch stop in McKittick at the Penny Bar and Grill. After McKittrick the route joins State Hwy 58 west then onto Hwy 229 to Creston. From there it is Hwy 41 into Morro Bay to check in at the accomodations of your choice.
NOTE: At this time there is a road closure on HWY 33 near Ojai for mudslides in the Thomas Fire burn area. This condition will be monitored and a notification will be sent if an alternate route is required.
Later we will gather at 6:30 pm for dinner at Dorn's Original Breakers Cafe http://www.dornscafe.com then a quiet evening.
Sunday is at your leisure, and there is lots to see and do. Golf at the Morro Bay Golf Course will start my day then drive up the HWY 1 to view the Elephant Seal Rookery in San Simeon www.elephantseal.org/.
Other options for Sunday include Cambria, Hearst Castle, Point Piedras Blancas Lighthouse or Deep Sea Fishing or kayaking Morro Bay
