La Canada to Wrightwood the Long Way! July 27, 2024
On July 27th 2024 we'll be driving to Wrightwood via Angeles Crest Highway, and the back side of the San Gabriel Mountains. This is the long way. We chose this route due to the closures on Angeles Crest Highway. This is a different way to get to Wrightwood. It's a very entertaining route. If you choose the option, we will be having lunch at our favorite Wrightwood destination, The Grizzly Cafe.

We will start in La Canada, on the top deck of the parking structure at the La Canada Flintridge Town Center, 990 Town Center Dr a, La Cañada Flintridge, CA 91011 near the intersection of Angeles Crest Highway and the 210 Freeway. See map and directions to follow.
We will meet at 7:30 AM and the first group will depart promptly at 8:30 AM. The driver meeting will be held at 8:15 AM
We will let you know your Group assignment via email. Group assignments are random.
Starting up Angeles Crest Highway, the speed limit is 40 MPH until we reach Angeles Forest Highway. We will observe all speed limits, as they allow ample opportunity for spirited driving.
The destination of the morning drive will be the mountain town of Wrightwood which sits astride the San Andreas Fault, where we end the tour for lunch at the Grizzly Cafe.

Due to the anticipated size of the event, participants may be divided into groups. Each group requires a lead and sweep car. Are you willing to fill one of these roles?
Even if you are not a lead or sweep car, all members should be familiar with the PCA Tour Guidelines https://www.pca.org/resource/event-guidelines-tour
For safety reasons, Lead and Sweep Cars will use GMRS Radios set to Channel 7, Sub-channel 20 to alert all participants to road conditions. If you have one, please bring it.
Also write down the Mobile numbers of the Lead and Sweep cars that will be given at the Participants' Meeting before the start of the tour.
The tour ends in Wrightwood but there are various options for your return trip:

Meeting time: 7:30 A.M.
Driver Meeting: 8:15 AM
1st Group Departure time: 8:30 A.M. Sharp

From the West:
Take the 210 Fwy. East towards Pasadena
Exit at Angeles Crest Hwy. Right turn at Angeles Crest Hwy. Immediate left at Town Center to rooftop parking lot at the first right.
From the East:
Take the 210 Fwy. West towards Glendale
Exit at Angeles Crest Hwy. Left turn at Angeles Crest Hwy. Left at Town Center to rooftop parking lot at the first right.
