Join us on Saturday, October 6th for a tour to the beautiful Lewis and Clark National Park. This is an opportunity to drive on the back country roads thru the hills above Scappoose towards Astoria.
The tour starts at the Scappoose Fred Meyer parking lot (51501 Columbia River Hwy, Scappoose ). Meet us at 9:00 AM.
Our first stop is at the Jewell Meadows Wildlife Park where we have the opportunity to look for herds of elk wandering in the distant grasslands. Our next stop is the famous Dooger's Seafood Restaurant in Warrenton for lunch. Such great seafood, I know you will really enjoy it!
A short distance away is the Lewis and Clark National Park. Step into the Fort Clatsop replica, at Lewis and Clark National Historical Park, and you'll get a real sense of what the Corps of Discovery experienced more than 200 years ago. It looks, smells, and feels pretty much the same. You can hike on one of the nearby trails around the bay. Go inside the Visitor Center, which features excellent films, displays, and a bookstore with Lewis and Clark Expedition related books, media and other high quality merchandise. Walk around the replica buildings and envision what it was like for the original explorers.
Entry into the park is $7 or free if you have a National Park Pass. It's free to go inside the visitor's center.
This is an excellent opportunity to learn about the history of the Lewis and Clark Expedition, along with driving on some great roads.
