About this event
In lieu of running a Solo School for 2017 - the Glen Region has decided to change things up a bit.
This year we'll be hosting a day we're calling Intro to Solo. The general plan will be a limited-attendance, half day event, targeted at people that have never run a Solo event. We'll run a morning session and a separate afternoon session to give prospective drivers half a day to learn about Solo without committing to a full day at a normal event - at an affordable price. Entrants will select either the morning session or the afternoon session.
Each session will be limited to 20 drivers.
Entrants MUST register here on MSR (MotorsportReg) prior to the event and MUST visit the Registration table the morning of the event to pay, sign the waiver, and complete registration!
Our event chair for this event will be Brett Bourdette. If you'd like to help out or have questions, you can reach out to him for more detail!
Event Location
The event will be held on the north paddock space at Watkins Glen International. The solo paddock space will be in the smaller paddock area to the north of the main paddock (with the handicap parking and bathroom building). For specifically where we'll be, check this map. To enter the track, go to Gate 2, tell security that you are there for the SCCA event and sign the track waiver. Then follow the map!
Event Schedule
Each session will operate roughly the same but here are tentative schedules for each - entrants will choose ONE session:
The AM session will begin with Registration starting at 9 a.m. followed by Tech Inspection, a Drivers Meeting, and a course walk. Entrants will be guided through each of the steps of a normal day before going out on course. Expect to be done some time around noon.
The PM session will be a repeat of the morning but with registration starting at 1 p.m. and running to some time around 4 p.m..
Event requirements
The Glen Region will only be using this system for pre-registration info only - but it is a requirement for the Intro to Solo event! You will still be required to submit payment (cash, check, or credit), sign the waiver, and complete your registration in person at the event. Entrants will need to show their valid driver's license (or permit) at registration the day of the event along with proof of valid SCCA membership (if available).
Intro to Solo Entry Fee: $25
The entry fee will be the same for SCCA members and non-members - though we expect this would be geared more towards non-members.
