FSR Spring Charity Event 2022

Berry Hill Resort

About this event

Join your FSR friends for a fun-filled weekend at our annual Spring Charity event at the historic Berry Hill Resort in South Boston, VA.

This isn’t your standard charity event weekend, as the Charity Committee has added a new twist this year!

Have you ever wanted to drive on the track at Virginia International Raceway (VIR) in the comfort of your own car and not in a competition?  Now’s your chance! Join your FSR friends and make new ones during a fun-filled weekend at our annual “Spring Charity Event with a Twist.”  The weekend (April 29 – May 1) will include the option for you to get a “taste of the track” during a 30-minute session behind the wheel of your own car on the track at VIR! Experience the twists and turns at VIR, some with names like “Snake,” “Horseshoe” and “Rollercoaster”! You’ll also have the opportunity to talk with some of our FSR “track junkies” and learn about your club's High Performance Driver Education (HPDE) program. Lodging will be at the historic Berry Hill Resort in South Boston, Va., about 35 minutes from VIR.

The weekend’s agenda:

Friday, April 29

  • Arrive at the Berry Hill Resort.  Check-in begins at 3pm. You can drive on your own or coordinate with some friends.
  • Friday night will include cocktails and dinner at the resort, plus a group photo of all our Porsches in front of the resort’s grand entrance. We’ll also have a live auction of one or two special items, with proceeds going to our 2022 charities.

 Saturday, April 30

  •  In the morning, we’ll drive to VIR as a group.  The day will include a tour of the paddock, a short classroom session, then 20 – 30 minutes of track time.  We’ll hear from Marco Estrada and Gina Schwaebler, two FSR members who will tell us about the DE program and their many track experiences.
  • After lunch at a club member’s condo at the track, we’ll head out on a fun run that will take us back to Berry Hill.
  • If you prefer not to join us at the track, you can enjoy a morning at the resort’s spa, but make your appointments early as they tend to sell out. Or, you can just relax and enjoy learning about the history of The Berry Hill Resort. You can meet us for lunch at VIR if you like or just join us for the fun run.
  • On Saturday night, we will enjoy a wonderful evening that includes dinner and a “Whiskey, Whisky and Wine” (but no whine) activity. We ask every person or couple who attends to contribute their favorite unwrapped bottle for all to have the opportunity to go home with something new to try or a selection from a club member’s private collection! It is a charity event, so bring something nice, and plan to bid on whatever sparks your interest! All proceeds go to our charities.
