About this event
Buccaneer Region SCCA - Finders Not Keepers Scavenger Hunt Road Rally
Saturday June 13th, 2026
Check-in: 9:15am, First Car Out: 10:00am
We are excited to announce our latest road rally event for the greater Jacksonville area, the first of its kind for us - a scavenger hunt! Each car will drive on paved public roads using a set of predefined route instructions through the greater Jacksonville area looking for specific items and documenting their presence. Scoring is based on presenting photographic evidence of the items to be found along the route. This is not a time-speed-distance rally.
We will start at a fast food restaurant in southern Jacksonville where cars will depart 1 minute apart. The finish will be a sit down restaurant, technically in Ponte Vedra Beach, where scoring, awards, and lunch will be available (you are responsible for purchasing your own food, we encourage everyone to eat and support the location).
New to road rally or unsure what this is all about? Check out this (somewhat lengthy but humorous) video explaination.
Any car is allowed, such that it meets all Florida state laws and is insured to meet the state’s minimum requirements. A valid driver's license and proof of insurance will be required at on-site registration. Each car is allowed as many people as there are seatbelts in the vehicle, but each car is suggested to have at least 2 people, a driver and a navigator. Team numbers will be assigned but the starting order will be determined at random.
There are three available classes for this rally: Stock, Limited and Seat of Your Pants. Given the nature of this event, classes will not be used for this event but will still be shown/required during registration. However, be sure to enter the same team name for championship tracking purposes.
Visit https://www.scca.com/pages/roadrally-rules for official class descriptions and rules. Below are some examples of the types of setups used in each TSD class.
- Stock: Using your vehicle's stock trip/odometer, smartphone as a calculator, and a stopwatch (perhaps the same or another smartphone). This is the most common class and recommended for novices.
- Limited: Using the car’s built in navigation system to show distance traveled, a 3rd party GPS tracking system via mobile app (i.e. Richta Odometer, Maps, or a Odometer/Trip app), as long as that information isn’t transferable to the calculating device (i.e. can't be the same smartphone running the app and calculations).
- SOP: Just your odometer, pens/pencils, stopwatch, and gut instincts. No calculator of any kind.
Online registration for the driver and navigator is required.
Starting Location: Dunkin' Donuts (12709 Bartram Park Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32258)
Finishing Location: Fionn MacCool's Irish Pub & Restaurant (145 Hilden Rd, Ponte Vedra Beach, FL 32081)
Registration Fee: $25 for SCCA members, $50 for non-SCCA members (weekend membership required)
Estimated Duration: 88 miles, just over 2hrs in duration, breaks are allowed along the way at your leisure.
