Fall Colors Overnighter to Flagstaff

Little America Hotel, Flagstaff

About this event

Beautiful scenery, fall colors, great roads, and a couple interesting activities in and around Flagstaff are featured on this weekday overnight tour in early October.

We will drive up I-17 toward Sedona, following the Red Rock Scenic Byway and Oak Creek Canyon, two of the most scenic routes you will find anywhere in Arizona, to Flagstaff.

When we arrive in Flagstaff we will have a buffet lunch at the Grand Canyon Brewing Company. The BBQ menu includes braised short ribs, smoked brisket, and chicken, accompanied by cole slaw, potato salad, seasonal vegetables, cornbread, and topped off with triple chocolate brownies for dessert. Yum!

After lunch we have a group tour scheduled at the Riordan Mansion, near the restaurant and adjacent to the NAU campus. The Riordan Mansion is an Arts & Crafts Style duplex built in 1904 for two Riordan families. The guided tour features information on the Riordan family and Flagstaff history, architecture, and furniture. The impressive home contains an exceptional collection of original Craftsman furnishings with appointments by Edison, Stickley, Ellis, and Steinway. Tickets for the tour are included in your registration fee.

After the tour we will drive to the Little America Hotel, where we will check in and you can relax in the pine forest environs before joining everyone for social time before dinner.

Plans for dinner will be on your own. The restaurant at Little America is a great option: Silver Pine Restaurant & Bar.

On Friday we will drive to the Arizona Snowbowl and enjoy the fall colors as we make our way up the San Francisco Peaks. You may choose to take in the dramatic scenery of Northern Arizona from a bird’s eye view on the Arizona Gondola. At 11,500 feet you can see the cinder cone volcanic field, the red rocks in Sedona, and as far as the Grand Canyon on a clear day. There are options for lunch at the Snowbowl or back in Flagstaff.

Registration for this event is $48/person, and covers your lunch and tour of the Riordan Museum.
Our special room rate at Little America is only $175/night + tax. You will make your own room reservations at the hotel. Instructions will be provided in the confirmation messages you will receive when you complete registration. You must make your reservation no later than September 6th to get the group rate.
