Mid-week drive to avoid weekend Winkleman Loop traffic. There are many great roads to explore North and South of Highway 60 in the East Valley. This year we are making the clockwise drive for the Winkleman Loop.

Our Tour will start in East Mesa. We will proceed East on Hwy. 60 to Speedway bio break, to AZ 70 to 77 South, continue South and East 177 North past the Ray Copper Mine to Superior AZ to the Silver King Smokehouse for Lunch. Last year we avoided the stop in Superior due to an annual festival. PAY YOUR OWN for lunch.

Side Note: An investor purchased and renovated The Hotel Magma and an old pharmacy directly across the street and converted it into a bar/restaurant; The Superior Barmacy. Superior was founded as a mining town for the Silver King and then later Magma mines; silver was mined at first, and then transitioned to copper. The town has been the site for many Hollywood movies and Television Westerns. In 1997 the thriller-drama U-Turn, directed by Oliver Stone and starring: Sean Penn, Jennifer Lopez, and Nick Nolte. In 1977 scene from the Gauntlet filmed on Main St, starring Clint Eastwood and Sandra Locke.
