Event Details:

This will be a 3 day grand touring event through the scenic back roads of San Luis Obispo County at private invitation-only car collections, wine tasting, and other activities thrown in along the way.

Pre event get to know ya: On the evening of September 9, we will have an informal get together at the Cambria Hotel. We will be able to nosh on some hors d’oeuvre’s and get re acquainted with the primo gruppo crew and welcome the secondo gruppo participants. Your evening will be free to explore some of the many fine restaurants in SLO county and you might consider visiting the Sensario art exhibit

Day 1: We will begin our adventure in historic Paso Robles and wind our way up scenic CA Highway 1 which skirts the Pacific Ocean. We will stop at the elephant seal rookery and have lunch at either Nepenthe (the last stronghold of the hippie movement and home of the world famous Ambrosia Burger) or the auto themed Baja Cantina (you get to vote!). We will then proceed to Carmel Vally Road and the historic Arroyo Seco until we reach Peach Tree Road and Indian Valley Road. We will end a long but rewarding day with a no host taco feed. We will experience one of Americas most iconic highways, coastal valleys, wine and cattle country.

Day 2: After drivers meeting, we will embark through the Adelaide wine region and pass through the coastal mountain range. From there we head inland through the rolling hills of cattle country to Los Olivos where there are several lunch spots to pick from . After lunch we will make our way back through San Luis Obispo where you can do the tourist thing. I will arrange reservations at the iconic McPhees Grill or you can pick from hundreds of fine local eateries

Day 3: For the last day we join one of our sponsors, the CCCR-PCA club and tour inland to Pine Mountain. We will caravan down to Santa Maria to join club members before we head inland. We will stop for a no host lunch on the way. Expect scenic valley views, pine forest and rolling hills; lots of twisties.

Saturday evening we will dine at the new Cambria Hotel in Templeton; traditional Santa Maria BBQ for awards, Prizes, tall tale telling and general mischief.

Expect photo runs, dummkopf awards, great food, good wine, cool prizes, fantastic drives and really great people; the kind of good time money can't buy. It’s all for a great cause!

Your tax deductible registration fee will cover pre-event social and the awards dinner Saturday as well as a swag bag with commemorative shirt and dash plaque. Also anything else I, your humble event organizer, can dig up.

Lodging:

I have learned from last year we get a better deal if we stay in the same hotel so we will be headquartered at the new Cambria Hotel in Templeton. There will be a code when you sign up to get $149/ night rate

Upscale options include: (this is for you Ms. Linda B)

The new Ava Hotel, The Allegretto , The Hotel Cheval, The Bellasera, The Paso Robles Inn (a personal favorite)

Those seeking a cheaper alternative drop a $50 on me and sleep in your car parked at my ranch (“No phone, no pool no pets". Barking dogs, coyotes, skunks, deer, hawks, owls and opossums included no extra charge.)

So I was going to do Monterey County but some issues arose so I thought ‘Joe, keep it home’. The Cambria Hotel has been a fantastic partner and I think you will enjoy the venue. As we get closer, I hope to add some wine tasting and other interesting stops. My goal is to make this a ’partner friendly’ event and improve it every year. We will include in the welcome packet a list of alternative activities for those folks who, for some unfathomable reason, want to do something other than race (within the speed limit) around the back road of SLO county
