for an Oregon Coast event to tour:

‘Circles in the Sand’ - Bandon, Oregon

                                  Saturday and Sunday, July 10th and 11th, 2021                

Experience one of a kind beach labyrinths in Bandon, Oregon.

Depending upon the ocean tides, the waves sweep Bandon beaches twice every day, revealing a fresh canvas for labyrinth artist Denny Dyke.  What began as a solo pastime has grown to a community experience: Dyke invites the public to share in the design, grooming the paths with a staff and a set of rakes.  Labyrinths are an ancient form of walkable art, designed for meditation and reflection. On the Bandon beach, the twisting paths mimic the tidal ebb and flow, turning and returning. No two labyrinths are the same.  There are no wrong turns or dead ends. 

Saturday

Drive:

8:30 a.m. Meet at the Starbucks parking lot at the Cascade Shopping Center, HWY 97, Bend for debriefing and event review. 

9:00 a.m. We will rally our way stopping for a self-packed lunch @ Rivers Edge Winery, Elkton, Oregon around 12:00 p.m.

1:00 p.m., continue our rally to our destination of Bandon, Oregon.

Arrive in Bandon around 3:00 and check in to the 13 pre-reserved rooms at the Sunset Oceanfront Lodge, where the rooms sit next to the beach with breath taking views of the Ocean.

Afternoon options include exploring the town, beaches, or just relaxing.

5:30 p.m. Happy Hour (Location TBD) 

7:00 p.m. dinner reservations at the Edgewater’s Restaurant and the Wheel House Crow’s Nest Restaurant.

Due to limited seating capacity in most of the restaurants in Bandon, we will break up in two dinner groups. Group 1 at Edgewater’s Saturday night and Group 2 at the Wheel House Crow’s Nest.  Then Sunday, the group will switch places which enables us all to have reservations for a nice dining experience.

Sunday,

            7:00 – 9:00 a.m.  Pastries and Coffee in the Hotel Conference Room

Depending upon the interests of the group, the event details and options are:

1. Circles in the Sand, Bandon, Oregon.  There is no cost for this event and is within walking distance on the beach from the hotel.  Allow 2 hours for a complete experience in the sand. 
2. Charter Boat Fishing.  For the fishermen in the group, Bandon Charter Boats offers a fishing experience that starts at 6 a.m. and returns at noon.  Board a 50 ft Delta Prowler boat and let Captain Wayne Butler take you on a successful fishing endeavor.

Cost is $80.00 Cash, or $85.00 payment on a credit card.  You will need a fishing license, of which the charter boat company can provide for $23.00 per person.  Reservations direct to Bandon Charter Boats required.

2. Beach walking.  Some of the most scenic views on the Oregon Coast

3. West Coast Game Park Safari.  West Coast Game Park Safari has become Oregon's largest, totally self-supporting wildlife attraction, dedicated to propagation, preservation and education, while reminding all that extinction lasts forever!

Park admission is $21.00 for adults and $18.50 for seniors.

1. Shopping.  Fabulous shopping at the Historic Old Town on the Coquille River waterfront.  It is 10 square blocks of art, culture, history, breweries, wine bars and dining.

Registration for this event will be on Motorsport.Reg.   Lodging reservations are to be made direct to the Hotel: Sunset Oceanfront Lodging 541-347-2453.  Be sure to mention that you are with the High Desert Region Porsche Club of America to get one of the 13 preferred oceanfront rooms that we have blocked for our group.  Depending on the type of room you book, the approximate cost per night including tax is $215.00.  Eleven of the thirteen rooms we have booked are direct oceanfront views.  Less expensive rooms are available if desired.  Please inquire direct with the hotel services.

When registration is full, we will determine the interest in activities on Sunday. Arrangements for various activities will be made.
