About this event
The Chesapeake Region invites all PCA members to attend the
For over 50 years, Chesapeake Region has invited its members and friends to celebrate the annual Chesapeake Challenge – the oldest running multi-event weekend in PCA history. The Challenge quickly became popular among Mid Atlantic owners, and attendance grew to well over a hundred cars in the ensuing years. The Challenge has moved around Maryland throughout its history. From 1968-2008, the event was held as a three-day event held from Friday over Saturday, with the autocross being held on Sunday morning.
The 53rd Chesapeake Challenge will be an all day, one-day event.
SUNDAY, OCTOBER 23rd
There will be a light breakfast (donuts and coffee), Full Concours and Werks Concours, Lunch catered by Kurtz’s, Gimmick Rally, Tech Quiz, Cocktail and appetizer hour, and Awards dinner catered by Kurtz’s.
This year’s event will be held entirely at Kurtz’s Beach along the Patapsco River in Pasadena, Maryland.
The day will open with a Concours d’Elegance consisting of Touring/Full Concours (judging of interior, exterior, engine and storage) and Werks Concours (similar in style to Werks Reunion, where cars are judged on their ownership story and condition rather than depth of cleanliness). Classes for both categories will be based on entries. In addition to class awards, there will be awards for Best of Werks Class and Best of Concours/Touring Group. Both the Werks and Touring Categories will be eligible for People’s Choice Award however only entrants that have their cars participate in the Touring category will be eligible to win the overall Lufthansa/Knowlton P Long Memorial Award.
The Chesapeake Region will host a picnic lunch catered by Kurtz’s. Shortly after lunch, a Gimmick Rally will leave from the venue featuring a scenic and delightful route created by Aniano Arao, made even more enjoyable and satisfying by clever gimmicks devised by Steve Graham. Individual first-, second- and third-place trophies will be awarded to the top-performing drivers and navigators.
Upon your return, we will participate in a Tech quiz testing your Porsche knowledge…the quiz is FUN and multiple choice, so anyone is likely to win! Coinciding with the Tech Quiz there will be a cocktail hour with appetizers, one drink coupon included, and a full cash bar. There is NO OUTSIDE ALCOHOL to be brought to the venue.
The final event of the day is the Awards Dinner Buffet catered by Kurtz’s in a beautiful venue overlooking the Patapsco River.
During the day we will be conducting a Silent Auction to raise money for a charity. Please indicate on the registration form if you plan to bring something to donate to the auction. We would prefer all items to be Porsche or car related. Thank you.
So come and join us for fun-filled day of Porsches and People.
All of your favorite cars and friends will be there, and so should you!
