CASOC
Summer Test 'n' Tune and Picnic
El Toro Fields - April 30, 2011
It's time again for the world famous CASOC Summer Test 'n' Tune and Picnic where your stomach shares the spotlight with you car. In addition to a first class autox course designed by the CASOC team, we're planning on skid pad and slalom practice areas, a place for kids to hone their skills in their karts, and of course the world famous CASOC food court. OK, OK, maybe it's not world famous, but the food is delicious, plentiful and FREE. We're looking for a hundred or so folks to come out and join in the fun. We expect to get the usual 12 runs each, maybe more, though it's not guaranteed.
What to expect - For this event, we're going to try and keep work time to a minimum and fun time at a maximum. With daytime highs averaging 73 degrees, the weather should be perfect. The course will be fast and flowing. Food will be available for about three hours starting at about 11:00 so no need to rush. There will be plenty to eat. Expect a run about every 15 minutes. For those serious tuners, we'll be making special accommodation to allow your runs in optimal conditions. And of course there's that fabulous El Toro grip.
When you arrive - Come through the main gate on Marine Way and turn right. Follow the ORANGE POINTER CONES to our site. Be sure to sign the event waiver at the entrance to our area. Park your car in any open spot and come to registration for check-in.
Novices - We at CASOC and CSCC welcome new participants to the sport. Our autoxs are work/run events and our organization is not for profit. We're all volunteers. Everyone pitches-in and shares in the work as well as the fun. It is important that you show up to work on time and complete your work assignment. We realize that getting started can be confusing. To help you get acclimated, our Novice Coordinator Leonard Cachola will be there to answer questions and help familiarize you with the course and procedures. A course walk to help you with learning the course will leave the starting line @7:30 AM. Please be on time. Once the event begins, instructors are available to help you and most drivers are happy to give ride-alongs. We're a very friendly group, so if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask any of the participants here today. A smile and a courteous attitude will go long way toward making you autox experience a great one. For more information to help you get started, check out our guide for newbies @ http://www.solo2.com/MiscDocuments/CSCC_Novice_Guide.pdf
Make it a weekend - The fun doesn't stop when we knock off on Saturday. AutoxSunday is when the real fun begins. It's here where you put your tuning to the test. This is the time to invite your friends for a friendly challenge to show off your driver skills and collect the hardware that goes topping the field in your class. For novices we have a special class where you can compete against others who are new to the sport. Novice instructors are always available.
Accommodations - The La Quinta Inn @14972 Sand Canyon, Irvine, CA 92618 is just a block from our venue. Tia Juana’s Long Bar and Grill, Knowlwood Restaurant, Denny's and Jack in the Box are all with walking distance of the hotel. Of course many of Orange County's finest hotels, restaurants and nightlife are within a 10 minute drive.
No Overnight Camping - There is no overnight camping allowed on this site. However, personal belongings, including vehicles, may remain overnight. Everything must be removed by the time we leave on Sunday. Neither Cal Club, CASOC, El Toro Fields or AMCI will be responsible for damaged, lost or stolen property.
