Best Little Road Course (not) in Texas

VIR - Patriot Course

About this event

Registration closes at midnight Sunday, February 23rd - we may be able to get you in after that, please email us at asphaltventures@gmail.com

Don't let the size of this track fool you.

There is so much awesome packed into its 1.1 mile that it will leave you begging for mercy!

  • Blind uphill corners - check
  • Blind downhill corners - check
  • Increasing radius - check
  • Decreasing radius - check
  • Esses? Not one, but THREE SETS!
  • Elevation changes that can only be described as "severe" (instructors, make sure you've got your motion sickness patches with you!)

This is a two-day event with a somewhat unique schedule. Saturday, March 1st is a shortened day. We'll be on track from 11:30 to 4:30pm. First-time participants will have an orientation classroom session earlier in the morning (9:00). All other participants will check in starting at 9:00, all-hands drivers safety meeting will be at 11:00. Sunday's schedule will run from 8:30am to 5:30pm.

All run groups will be limited to 15 cars each, loosely based on vehicle performance potential, to keep the "cars-per-mile" to a reasonable level.

Two-day entries are $300 (for beginners) and $350 for solo and intermediate/advanced entries.

All two-day entries ALSO see a $50 early-bird discount until February 1st. In addition to THAT, any Asphalt Ventures Pole Position member will receive even more discounts. Click here for more details on membership.

Event requirements

To participate in tthis event, your car must have a safety inspection performed prior to arrival. You will receive a link to the inspection form via email after you've completed registration. (Or you can check it out here)

Participants will be required to provide a suitable helmet. All helmets must be Snell rated. For beginners and convertible group drivers (in cars without roll bars), we will accept SA and M rated helmets no older than 2005 specification in good condition. For all other run groups, an SA-rated helmet Snell 2005 or newer is required. Open face or closed face helmets are allowed. If you cannot procure a helmet for this event, we may be able to provide one for you... requests must be made at least 30 days in advance of the event (which means you need to sign up for the event at least 21 days in advance... which not-coincidentally, is the cut-off date for cancelations.)

Instructors... I've engineered the schedule to include a breaks between EVERY track session, so even if you have two students, it should be relatively easy getting to/from each assignment.

We had so much fun at Virginia Int'l Raceway's Patriot Course in November, we were dying to return. While it's one of the shortest tracks in the country, it offers an experience like no other. Turns of all varieties PLUS elevation changes that make lesser drivers weep. You will think this track is longer than it really is. A major benefit to its length is that you get more laps, even in a shortened session! You will still be required to sign a liability release waiver protecting yourself, your fellow participants, and the track and event staff against lawsuit in the event of any unforeseen calamities. This form is found in digital form here during online registration as well as paper form upon arrival at the event.
