Back of the Dragon Driving Tour
Should you have registered previously for this driving tour, you will remain on the registration list. If you are unable to attend on the new dates, please change your regisration status.
This is the Shenandoah Region’s first trip to drive the Back of the Dragon from Marion, Virginia
to Tazewell, Virginia. This Tour will be an overnight stay, arriving on Saturday, Oct 29th and
departing on Sunday, Oct 30th. On Saturday, Oct 29st , we will embark on a driving tour from
Marion to Grayson Highlands State Park in some of the highest elevations in the state.
The highlight of the trip is driving the Back of the Dragon which will start on Sunday at the
General Francis Marion Hotel in Marion and will go to the Back of the Dragon Store and
Brewery in Tazewell, Virginia. After having lunch, we will then make our way back over
the Dragon to Marion where we will depart for home. Please be aware, if it appears
that inclement weather is forecasted on Sunday, we may do the Back of the Dragon
Tour on Saturday afternoon. Therefore, it is imperative to arrive at 1 PM on Saturday if the
weather is not looking good for us. We will be meeting both days at:
