Join us in the first of a series as we explore San Diego. The first destination is the historic Balboa Park Carousel at the corner of Park Blvd. and Zoo Place. The carousel will be open just for us Aug. 5 from 7:30 a.m. — 9:30 a.m. Parking is available on either side of the carousel, so it will a great time to socialize with your PCA friends at this family-friendly event.

A fixture of Balboa Park since 1922, the carousel features a menagerie of mostly original animals and a classic brass ring. Bring some kiddies if you want, but adults love to ride the carousel, too. The non-refundable fee of $20 per car will go to the Friends of Balboa Park Carousel Capital Campaign to help them to repair and preserve the carousel.

Afterwards, keep your parking space and have a bite to eat at one of the restaurants. Café in the Park (Casa del Balboa building) opens at 8:30 a.m. Craveology at the Fleet Science Center and Panama 66 at the Museum of Art open at 10 a.m.

Visit one of the 17 museums within Balboa Park. The Natural History, Automotive and Air & Space museums all open at 10 a.m.  And the world famous San Diego Zoo opens at 9 a.m.

Throw in a little Shopping at the Spanish Village Art Center (opens at 11 a.m.) for a perfect morning in one of the best places in all of San Diego
