Description: This is not a “race” in the traditional sense. This is a fun driving event in which teams of two vehicles (2 people per vehicle) will compete in a “scavenger hunt” to various locations around the Upstate, collecting points for completing tasks on a list. Most of the tasks will involve taking a photo with a smart phone of a landmark or specific item. Other tasks will include bringing back specific items. The list will be large enough that no team will be able to complete all the tasks. At the end of the hunting part, teams will gather at Quaker Steak & Lube (10 Chrome Drive, Greenville) for tallying of points and awarding trophies to the winning team.

Important: This is a FUN event, not a SPEED event. Participants are expected to obey all traffic laws, and are responsible for any consequences of failing to do so.

Details: Drivers must be members of Upstate MINIs and/or Sandlapper Chapter of the BMWCCA. Teams will be composed of one driver and one navigator in each of two vehicles. Additional passengers are permitted, but will not be “competing” or eligible for awards.

Teams may consist of two MINIs, two BMWs or one of each. All vehicles used must be either BMW or MINI. Tasks may be completed in any order, routes determined totally by participants. All required photos must be taken on one camera phone per vehicle. The phone will show photos in order taken, which will be necessary to prevent “slippery editing.” If any team vehicle does not have a smart phone, another camera phone may be used to collect the required photos.

Each task will be assigned a point value based on difficulty and/or distance. Examples:
    > Take a photo of your vehicle in front of the Anderson water tower (15 points)
    > Take a selfie of you sitting in the rocking chair at a Cracker Barrel (5 points, maximum 2 per team)
    > Bring back a receipt for the purchase of a MINI Icee at any QT (10 points)
    > Take a photo of an American Flag (3 points for each photo of a unique flag)

Each team will be given two copies of The List at the conclusion of the Drivers Meeting. Teams should take some time to plan routes before departing. Most items will be one-per-team; in the above example, only one of the two team vehicles will receive credit for the Anderson water tower photo. The List will have checkboxes before each item so that teams will be able to track their point totals enroute. Lists will need to be turned in to Race Officials prior to the deadline. As each list is being tallied, Race Officials will need to compare results with Smart phone images and any other items obtained in the competition. Items collected must be turned in and are not returnable. Both teams must check in to the Finish site prior to deadline for results to be eligible for prizes.

The team amassing the highest point total will receive individual trophies to keep, and have their team name inscribed on a Trophy Plaque to be displayed at Century BMW or Century MINI. This will be an annual event, and room for more names will be allotted for on the plaque.
