Description: This is not a “race” in the traditional sense. This is a fun driving event in which teams of two (driver and navigator) will compete in a “scavenger hunt” to various locations around the Upstate, collecting points for completing tasks on a list. All of the tasks will involve taking a photo with a smart phone of a landmark or specific item. The list will be large enough that no team will be able to complete all the tasks. At the end of the hunting part, teams will gather at Quaker Steak & Lube (10 Chrome Drive, Greenville) for tallying of points and awarding trophies to the winning team.

Important: This is a FUN event, not a SPEED event. Participants are expected to obey all traffic laws, and are responsible for any consequences of failing to do so.

Registration Details: Drivers must be members of Upstate MINIs and/or Sandlapper Chapter of the BMWCCA. Teams will be composed of one driver and one navigator. NEW THIS YEAR: Competing teams are teams of two in one car, NOT teams of four in two cars as in past years. Each registration should contain ONE DRIVER AND ONE NAVIGATOR, together on the same registration. Additional passengers are permitted in the competing vehicle, but will not be “competing” or eligible for awards.

All team vehicles used must be either BMW or MINI. Tasks may be completed in any order, routes determined totally by participants. All required photos must be taken on ONE CAMERA PHONE PER VEHICLE. The phone will show photos in order taken, which will be important for tallying of points.

Each task will be assigned a point value based on difficulty and/or distance. Examples:
    > Take a photo of your vehicle in front of the BMW Performance Center (15 points)
    > Take a selfie of you sitting in the rocking chair at a Cracker Barrel (5 points)
    > Take a photo of an American Flag (3 points for each photo of a unique flag)

Each team will be given a copy of The List at the conclusion of the Drivers Meeting. Teams may (should?) take some time to plan routes before departing. The List will have checkboxes before each item so that teams will be able to track their point totals enroute. Team MUST check into finish location for timestamp prior to 5:00 deadline or entry is DISQUALIFIED. Teams may take up to 15 minutes to finish tallying their lists after checking in; all lists must be turned into Race Officials by 5:15pm.  As each list is being tallied, Race Officials may need to compare results with Smart phone images. The "order of photos" blanks on the list will help expedite this process.

The team amassing the highest point total will receive individual trophies to keep, and have their team name inscribed on a Trophy Plaque to be displayed at Century BMW or Century MINI. This will be an annual event, and room for more names will be allotted for on the plaque.

There will also be smaller trophies awarded for second place and third place totals.
