Did that regular driver’s education course you took give you the confidence to handle your vehicle in a variety of situations? Are you wondering if the High School program your teen driver took gave them the skills needed to help keep them safe on the roads?
A typical driver’s education course teaches the principles of road awareness and safety for prospective first-time drivers. Those courses generally cover what we call the basics: Road signs and what they mean, principles of being a safe and responsible driver, how to operate a motor vehicle, traffic laws, and theoretically how to handle those emergency situations. But did they give drivers the experience to know how quickly they can safely stop their vehicle? Or how wet roads or going off-road, such as swerving onto the shoulder of the highway, can affect driving dynamics?
We take things a step further…..
For over two decades, the Glacier Lakes Chapter of Audi Club North America (ACNA) has taught hundreds of drivers - adults and teens - to become better, safer, more confident drivers. Our Driving Clinic is the perfect place for any driver to have fun, improve driving skills, and build confidence. It's designed to help improve a driver's ability to control a vehicle in both normal and emergency situations.
Our one-day program, sponsored by Toyo Tires, combines classroom sessions with behind-the-wheel exercises. You or your teen driver will learn how to handle your car in various driving conditions and situations, while receiving coaching, encouragement, and praise from one of our trained, in-car instructors. From slalom and skid pad exercises to braking and accident avoidance, we’ll teach you some of what was left out of those Driver’s Education classes.

Cost
- The cost is $149 per student for this one day course.
- A light breakfast, lunch and beverages are provided for all attendees including parents of students.
Schedule
- Clinics begin promptly at 8:00 a.m. and conclude by 4:30 p.m. Plan to arrive 15 minutes early to complete check-in and get settled.
Location
- Clinics are held at Dakota County Technical College (DCTC) in Rosemount, MN.
- Instruction on where to meet in the morning will be provided in an email sent a few days prior to the event.
Class size is limited and spots fill quickly. Early registration is recommended!
Event requirements
Participant Requirements
- Drivers of all ages are welcome to this event
- Drivers must bring their valid driver’s license or permit
- At least one parent/guardian must accompany any driver under 18
- Liability and Communicable Disease Waivers must be e-signed prior to participation.
- Minors must have a parent/guardian execute waivers on their behalf (instructions will be sent to you)
- Students are not required to be members of ACNA for this event, but drivers over 19 years old are encouraged to be members of Audi Club North America (ACNA). To join or renew, visit the ACNA website at ACNA Membership
- Drivers must wear closed toe shoes (no heavy boots, flip-flops, crocks, sandals, wedge/high heels)
Parents/ Legal Guardians – a few notes for you:
- You must be on-site for the duration of the day if your student is under 18 years old.
- Your volunteer services will be needed at the event. Students knock over and run over cones during the on-track exercises and we need your help to set back up. This allows instructors to stay in the car and increase the amount of coaching and practice your student gets. Prepare to be trackside while your student is participating in exercises - sunscreen and caps recommended! Please wear shoes that can get wet – a good portion of our exercises are in the flooded paddock!
Vehicle Requirements
- Participants must provide their own vehicle and it must:
- Be in good mechanical condition
- Pass a technical inspection at the start of the event which will include review of tires, brakes, fluids, lights, and other essentials
- Vehicles must have state-mandated insurance coverage limits in effect
- Car must be empty of all loose objects, this includes in the trunk, glove box, passenger compartments, etc.
- All street legal vehicles are permitted at these car control clinics; however, the event master has discretion to disallow any vehicles deemed unsafe from participating
