Helmets
Helmets are provided by Top Karting. If you would like to use your own helmet, bring it to the event to be inspected and approved by Top Karting's staff.
Mandatory Paperwork
Liability waivers are signed on-site through Top Karting. Also see the Motorsport Club of Ottawa Supplementary Waiver below.
Classing
Free for all :)
As always if you have any questions, you can ask them on the MCO Community Facebook Group Facebook page
Rules
No karting experience required but participants must be 5ft tall.
Helmets are provided. You may also bring your own helmet, as long as it is a full-face helmet approved by DOT or SNELL. See www.topkarting.com to confirm if your helmet is eligible for use. You want a visor as these go up to 70kmh.
Closed-toe shoes are mandatory (no flip-flops or sandals). Shoes should be comfortable (running shoes or driving shoes) - it's hard to feel the pedals properly with heavy footwear.
Full racing suits can be provided if necessary. You should wear comfortable clothing that you won't mind washing afterwards there is tons of ventilation but you will be exposed to exhaust and rubber particles kicked up from the tires.
Thin light leather gloves are nice to wear and provide some cushioning on the steering wheel.
Disqualification Policy
Receiving two (2) black flags during a race results in automatic disqualification. Disqualified drivers are not eligible for a refund, credit, or rescheduling. Black flags are issued at the discretion of staff in cases of dangerous or unsportsmanlike driving. All decisions regarding black flags are final.
Participation by Minors
Any prospective participant under the age of 18 must contact karting@mco.org in advance of registering. Ideally, this contact should precede registration cut-offs by two weeks.
