DMS Time Trials Noob School

A beginner-focused introduction to the StratoCross & StratoSprint events, designed to get you comfortable, confident, and ready for your first DMS event.

This is a learning-focused, low-pressure day for first-time and newer drivers. It explains how DMS events work and gives you seat time in a controlled environment before competing.

 

Starting at 5:30 PM, we’ll cover the fundamentals of how DMS events work, including registration flow, grid procedures, flags, timing, and marshalling.

This will be followed by a course walk on a short StratoCross layout, with explanations of the obstacles and how to approach them. After the walk, drivers will participate in low-speed “follow-the-leader” parade laps to get a feel for driving through the course.

• No helmet required
• No instruction 
• Focused on learning the format

 

Following the Basics portion, drivers registered for instruction will begin developing their skills with on-track practice runs.

Instructors will ride along periodically to provide:

• Driving tips
• Line choice guidance
• Car control fundamentals
• Feedback between runs

A helmet is required for this portion.

 

Drivers registered for the Instruction option, along with approved volunteers, will have access to open practice on the Track Sprint course to prepare for the upcoming season.

 

Volunteers receive free practice time at this event as a thank-you for helping out.

Typical tasks include:

• Coaching new drivers
• Resetting cones
• Launching cars

Volunteer requirements:

• Previous DMS competition experience or
• Minimum of one full season of autocross experience with another club

Volunteer spots are limited.

• Event Basics + Driving Instruction — $149 (15 spots)

• 5:30 PM – 6:30 PM — Event Basics (Noobs Only)
• 6:30 PM – 8:00 PM — Driving Instruction (Noobs Only)
• 8:00 PM – 9:00 PM — Track Sprint Open Practice (Instruction Drivers + Volunteers)
• 9:00 PM — Practice Ends
