What is Autocross?
Autocross is a form of Motorsports competition that emphasizes driver skill and car handling through a course designated by traffic cones on a low hazard location such as a parking lot or oval track. Cars go through the course alone and are timed. There are various classes of cars based on many performance levels. Classes range from show room stock, to modified, on up to purpose built race cars and go-karts. Anything from Corvettes and Mustangs, to Neons and Civics can compete in their own class. While speeds are no greater than normally encountered in legal highway driving, the combination of concentration and car feedback create an adrenalin pumping experience.
Spectators are welcome as long as they have signed the waiver and stay in designated spectating locations. While minor children are allowed on premises with a minor-waiver release form completed, parents/guardians are responsible for the children at all times. Drivers wearing race gear (helmets, harnessed in, etc.) have limited visibility when coming off track. General Rule of Thumb: Race cars should have the right of way at a race track; not the pedestrian.
