RMR is returning to one of our favorite tour locations – Steamboat Springs. We are also offering an optional 2-night stay at the Steamboat Legacy Vacation Resort. Our drive will take us from the west side of the Denver metro area to Steamboat Springs on mostly scenic highways. We will have lunch at our favorite restaurant, Fiesta Jalisco. For those staying the weekend in Steamboat we have dinner reservations on Saturday night at Carl’s Tavern, pay on your own.

There is a unique opportunity on this tour to explore the universe with an astrophotography session.  If photography is your hobby and you want to explore the Milky Way join us for an evening of astrophotography. The location was vetted during last year’s trip and weather will dictate whether it is on Friday or Saturday night. We are limiting the numbers on this to ensure everybody gets the personalized attention they need to get the best images possible.

Required equipment for astrophotography

  • DSLR or mirrorless camera with “native” non-extended ISO range of at least 3200 and shutter speeds to at least 20 seconds
  • Wide angle lens, ideally with aperture of f/2.8 or larger (minimum of f/4) – full frame equivalent of 14-24mm is best
  • A sturdy tripod

Our 180 mile route takes us over Berthoud Pass, Gore Pass and through the Yampa Valley, before dropping us into beautiful Steamboat Springs for lunch at Fiesta Jalisco.
