2017 British Columbia Historic Motor Races (BCHMR)

 

Update - August 10, 2017: The original schedule for the full BCHMR weekend included access to the Paddock and Registration and Tech Inspection during the evening of Thursday, August 18th. Unfortunately, this is not possible because the track has been rented to others on Thursday evening. Therefore, the first entry to the Paddock will be on Friday, August 19th. The Vintage Racing Club of British Columbia (VRCBC) is very  pleased to present the 2017 British Columbia Historic Motor Races (BCHMR) at Mission Raceway Park Road Course, Mission, BC on August  19 - 20, 2017. This year's special features are:

The Hagerty Formula Festival - A combined Formula Vee and Formula Ford Race with:

• The Abbotsford Trophy for the Formula Vee winner
• The Westwood Trophy for the Formula Ford winner

The BCHMR also includes exciting racing for the Closed Wheel Vintage Production-based and Improved Production racing cars. Especially popular with both drivers and fans is the 'all-comers' Closed Wheel Vintage race, the second annual Jim Latham Memorial Race, which will be held on Sunday afternoon, with racers contending for the historic SCCBC Trophy.

The Exhibition Class includes all purpose-built racing cars such as Sports Racing and higher level Formula cars. The most spirited performance in this class will receive the Pete Lovely Memorial Award.

An exciting new category, the 'All Japanese Group' has been introduced for 2017. This group is open to all (not just Vintage) Japanese Closed Wheel racing cars whose original date of manufacture was on or before December 31, 1996. Racers have the option of entering for both days or just on the Sunday, which will feature the 50 minute 'All Japanese Enduro'.

Eligible Vintage Closed Wheel cars that are already entered can also be entered in the All Japanese Group for a minimal additional fee.

Other Special awards are:

• The Chairman's Trophy for the most outstanding entry of the race event.
• The Historic Battered Cup for the entry which had the most "shattering" experience.
• The SOVREN Canada Cup for the most significant US-based SOVREN club entry.

Additionally, the BCHMR is again featuring the very popular 'Ride in a Real Racing Car' event. Fans can (for a nominal donation) go for ride on the track in an actual Vintage racing car with its owner/driver during a dedicated period over the Saturday and Sunday lunch breaks. This year's rides are again in support of the VRCBC's 'charity of choice', the Mission Hospice Society.

Members of the Sports Car Club of BC (SCCBC) and the Motorsport Emergency & Turnworkers Association (META), and other volunteers will assist with race operations.

The BCHMR is both a VRCBC REVS points and SOVREN points event. 

Note: It is a requirement of our sanctioning bodies (ASN Canada through the CACC), that RESIDENTS of Canada (regardless of their citizenship) must have the relevant competition licence from the CACC or from another acceptable Canadian sanctioning body.

Entry Fees: The following entry fees are payable in Canadian funds. 

(1) All Vintage Race Groups (Vintage, Vintage Exhibition, Formula Ford and Formula Vee Entrants)

• $365 CDN basic entry fee for each driver/car combination. There are additional fees for:
  • $130 CDN for an already-entered driver entering another car in another one of these race groups.
  • $80 CDN for another driver sharing an already entered car in one of these race groups. 
  • $75 CDN for an entry of an already entered (and eligible) car to the All Japanese Group for both days
  • $40 CDN for an entry of an already entered (and eligible) car to the All Japanese Group for Sunday only

The basic entry fee ($365) includes: four individual passes (one driver and three crew), one support vehicle paddock pass and two tickets for the Saturday Evening Dinner event.

(2) All Japanese Group

• $365 CDN basic entry fee for each car for both days. There is no additional fee for an additional driver(s). The two day entry includes: four individual passes (one driver and three crew), one support vehicle paddock pass and two tickets for the Saturday Evening Dinner event.
• $180 CDN entry fee for each car for Sunday only. There is no additional fee for an additional driver(s). The Sunday only entry includes: four individual passes (one driver and three crew) and one support vehicle paddock pass.

(3) Track Workers and Other Volunteers

• Please sign up online so that event officials will be aware of who will be coming. Just follow the same registration process as Entrants and you will find the Volunteer sign up at the bottom of the page. Thanks.
