About this event

Pinewood Derby Challenge at the Chicago Region SCCA October Membership Meeting

The Chicago Region SCCA is looking for individual racers and racing teams with a quest for speed - Pinewood Derby speed, that is, where good design and set-up, along with gravity, are all you need to win. The region will present its Pinewood Derby Challenge at the October 19, 2016, Membership Meeting, which starts at 7 p.m. at K1 Speed, 2381 W. Army Trail Road, Addison, IL 60101.The event is FREE and open to all ages, so don’t be left out. If you have a vintage Pinewood Derby car, pull it out of storage, tune it up and bring it out for an exciting evening of racing.

This event is all about fun, socializing and beating the next guy. So, be creative and challenge your friends, competitors or specialty members to a race. We have established two race groups, the original Pinewood Derby Car and the Unlimited (Group 7) Pinewood Derby Car, with two competitor classes in each group - adults (13 years of age and older) and children (12 years of age and younger). The unlimited rules are designed to ensure the car will fit on the track and will not impede another competitor’s car. Other than that, be creative and let your imagination go. If your car qualifies, you can enter it in both race groups. Only two cars per person, please. Trophies will be awarded for all four race groups. All cars will be part of the Concours de Pinewood, with a trophy awarded for best in show.

Adding to the excitement, we will award prizes for the fastest pinewood derby cars in each race group and competitor class, depending on event entry levels. Prizes are a 14-lap standard race (adult) or a junior 12-lap standard race (children must meet the height requirement) at K1 Speed indoor go-kart track. Don't miss out - enter today!
