PRESENTS AN OPEN TRACK DAY 

OregonRaceway Park

Saturday, August 20th.

 

Limited to first 60 cars.  

Sorry, all STAR Projects rental cars have been reserved for this event.

 

REGISTRATION:

Open NOW , Closes: Midnight,Thursday, August 18th. The pre-registered price is $205.00 per driver.

RAT RACE TEAMS: We are honoring the same discounted price structure we did for the practice we hosted  prior to the Lemons race: First entry $205.00, second driver same car, $65.00, third driver $50.00 fourth driver $35.00. All drivers on your team must have completed registration (paid)  for the RAT RACE to get the "Team Practice" pricing.  If you have already paid the $205.00 to enter your personal car in the open practice you may drive any registered Rat Racer on which you are listed as a team member at no additional cost.  

All entries accepted after the closing date above are subject to a $50.00 additional processing fee. We are able to accept credit  cards at registration (the track office) .

SCHEDULE:

Dry camping is available (and free) Friday night. The gates will be open most of Friday afternoon and will be closed at 8:30 P.M. (except for medical emergencies). For late arrivals, camping is available in gravel parking area East of the main gate. Do not block the Driveway. Please sign in at the track office directly upon arrival.

Gates will open at 7:30 A.M. Saturday.  A mandatory driver meeting will be held in front of the O.R.P. Office at 8:30 A.M. followed by an optional motorized “course walk” at the conclusion of which it will be hot track until noon. The track is cold for lunch. Open track will resume at 1:00 P.M. and run until 5:00.

Passing is by point by only. Be prepared to watch mirrors and flags. To maximize track time Sessions will only be declared if safety concerns dictate. As long as safety protocols are observed, we will tow disabled cars under hot track conditions. Any repeated violation of event rules may lead to removal for the remainder of the day. Decision of the event coordinators will be final.

Event requirements

 

TECH & ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

A random selection of a few of the Rules, Tech Stuff and Good Advice etc.(Most of mine, some of the tracks. others as we go along)

  • This event is for automobiles only.
  • All persons entering O.R.P. are required to sign a release and wear at all times the issued security wrist band. (Yes, on your wrist, either side, your choice
  • Use of alcohol (other than for motor fuel) is prohibited on race day until after the conclusion of the days racing events. Any violation may result in the expulsion of the entire team.
  • Pit and paddock space is tight. To provide room for critical support equipment, you may be asked to move all nonessential vehicles and motor homes from the paddock areas.
  • O.R.P. is at 2,500 feet. It can get cool at night. The stars are beautiful. Be prepared to secure all canopies, tarps and tents. The wind can blow hard at O.R.P.
  • For those that arrive after hours. O.R.P. Provides a large parking area East of the front gate.  (If you are sleeping on the ground, the gravel there is guaranteed to be as comfortable as the gravel inside the facility).
  • 92 octane unleaded (non-ethanol) fuel will be available on site from the track. It is $5.50 / gal. You may bring your own fuel.
  • All spills must be reported immediately to the track staff to avoid damage to the pavement.
  • Bring what you need. Grass Valley is a town of less than 200 people in a county of less than 1,800 people. (The nearest approximation of a city is The Dalles 50, miles away).
  • Food vendors will be on site or you can order a box lunch and have it delivered to the track at noon for around $10.00.
  • There is no running water at the track.
  • Electrical hook-ups are not available (bring a generator if you need power).
  • O.R.P. is dog friendly. Pick up after them and keep them on a leash when the track is hot.
  • O.R.P. uses 100.1 FM to broadcast track announcements. (Bring your boom-box).
  • Smoking is only allowed east of the pit / pre-grid road barriers.
  • SPEED LIMIT: 15 M.P.H.is the maximum in the pre-grid and paddock areas. The hot pit is 30 M.P.H.
  • Persons under 18 may not ride a bike or use other wheeled devices when the track is hot and must wear a helmet at all other times when on a wheeled device. Skateboards are not allowed.

  • Technical requirements for car preparation and safety equipment will be guided by common sense. Seatbelts, helmets and eye protection are required. Open cars and those with any form of removable top  will have permanently in place, adequate roll over protection. The 2 inch “broomstick test” applies. The opinion of the tech inspector will be final. And no, we don’t care where else they let you run before.   • This event will be held entirely during daylight hours. Only functioning brake lights are required. 

 

DRIVER ELIGIBILITY:

  • Current state of provincial driver’s license is required and must be shown at registration.
  •  Drivers under 18, must present properly executed minor release forms. Forms are available from the track office and will need to be requested and approved in advance.
  •  Drivers, who lack racing experience, must display a 6 x 6 inch day-glow orange panel on the front and rear of the vehicle at all times when the car is on track. Drivers who have not had prior O.R.P. driving experience, must display the same panels, but will add a black “X” across the panel (black electrical tape).
  • It is the responsibility of all drivers to know the standard racing flags and how and where they are used before they get to the track. Conference standards apply. If you are unsure, a cheat sheet (training guide) is available on request.
