Join us at VIR for three days of superb driving!
Run Groups:
Drivers are split into 6 run groups based on skill level. Green will be required to run with instructors. Each run group will get at least four 20 to 25 minute sessions per day!
[]– Green: This is the Novice group for anyone who has zero, or very limited, track experience (0-1 weekends). A certified instructor is assigned to work with you one-on-one all weekend! This run group is Saturday and Sunday Only.
[]– Yellow: This is the Intermediate group, which is for anyone with a few weekends of experience and has been signed off to drive solo. This is a solo group.
[]– Purple: This is the Upper Intermediate group, which is for anyone with a few weekends of experience. This is a solo group with greater experience and a faster pace than yellow.
[]– Blue: This is the Advanced run group, which is for anyone with many track weekends You should have a solid history with numerous events completed. This is a solo pass-anywhere-with-a-point group.
[]– Red: This is the timed run group, for ADVANCED drivers only who wish to run against the clock. A transponder is required for this run group. All passes still require a point by. Drivers in this run group will get timed sessions on Friday, and join the normal advanced (Blue) run group on Saturday and Sunday. See further details below.
[ ]– White: This is the Instructor run group. This is a point-to-pass group.
All Experience will be verified. If green has a waitlist and you do not have sufficient experience for the solo run groups, do not sign up in yellow. Your experience will be checked and run group will be adjusted.
Pricing:
Single Day Solo Pricing: $500
2-day Instructed Student Pricing: $695
3-day Solo Pricing: $750
3-day registration does not require you to attend all 3-days. A 2-day solo option is not offered due to organizational constraints.
Friday MEGAPACK (Advanced, Timed, and Instructors Only) - $250. Looking to get the most track time possible? The Friday MEGAPACK grants you entry into BOTH the Timed Run Group and the Advanced Run Group! That means you'll be driving in 2/3 of the sessions on Friday!

Instructors - Instructors may join us at no charge with a 1-student guarantee. This will be in-car instruction. If you wish to instruct and have not done so with us before, please email trackevents@tidewatersportscarclub.com to confirm. Experience will be verified.
Registration closes on May 13th. No walk ups will be accepted!
Refund/Cancelation policy:
Cancelations will be handled on a case by case basis. Cancelations within 45 days of the event may be subject to an administrative fee ($125) and only credit will be given. Cancelations within 14 days of the event will receive no refund or credit.
Schedule of Events:
Friday will consist of Timed, Advanced, and Intermediate run groups for SOLO drivers only. Instructors will join the advanced run group.
Saturday and Sunday will follow a more traditional schedule for all run groups including Instructors and Novice students as well as the solo run groups. Drivers who register for the timed run group will join advanced for Saturday and Sunday.
Red (Timed) Run Group:
New for 2024 - we will be turning on the timing loop on Friday for our timed run group! While each pass must still be completed with a point by, this is an opportunity to to put down some times and compete for glory - there will be trophies! This is intended to be a light-hearted and fun group with simple classing. Our classing is based on tire width and treadwear rating. For each size category there will be a trophy for both 200TW+ and under 200TW.

235-265
275-295
305-335
345 & up
Trophies will be awarded for fastest single lap in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in each class. Additionally a People's Choice, Underdog, and Precision Driver (smallest deviation between a driver's best time in each session) trophy will be awarded!
Event requirements
Carefully read all sections of this page. Failure to do so can delay or prevent participation at the event!
Driver Requirements:
- Drivers must have a valid driver or competition license. License must be able to be presented at registration.
- Drivers under 18 years old must have a parent or guardian on site at all times.
- All Drivers must be wearing closed-toe shoes, long pants, and a long sleeve shirt made of cotton or other non-synthetic fibers.
- Multiple drivers in the same car will not be allowed in the same run group. We are aiming to keep the run groups small to maximize track time, and to help ensure a relatively open track for all groups. All drivers must individually register to run in this event.

Vehicle Tech and Safety:
The Tidewater Sports Car Club takes the safety of our drivers, instructors, and Safety Workers very seriously. Please pay close attention to this section as you WILL NOT be allowed on track if you fail to comply with our safety and tech policies.
Pre-Tech Inspection:
A Pre-Event Tech Inspection is required for all participants to be done and our form filled out within 30 days of the start of the event. The tech form can be downloaded/printed HERE. Please email trackevents@tidewatersportscarclub.com if you have any questions. A valid 2024 Tech sticker (NASA, SCCA, WRL, etc) can be used as a substitute to the pre-tech form. The tech form must be completed by a shop or technician that IS NOT the driver.
To ensure your vehicle will have no issues passing tech at the event, please READ THE TSCC HPDE SUPPLEMENTAL RULES (CLICK HERE). - UPDATED 2/26/24. Changes are highlighted in red.
We WILL be doing a hands on inspection of all vehicles the day of the event.
Convertible Requirements:
Please read our complete HPDE Supplemental Rules (CLICK HERE)- UPDATED 2/26/24. Changes are highlighted in red. which contain all information needed regarding specific convertible requirements, the broomstick test standards, and other safety requirements such as harness install, etc. All convertibles must have adequate rollover protection and owners shall contact trackevents@tidewatersportscarclub.com to verify if the factory rollover protection is adequate.
Miata and S2000 stock rollover protection is NOT adequate and a suitable roll bar is necessary. MOST factory vehicles do not have adequate rollover protection.
Helmets:
You must have a a Snell SA rated (2015 or newer) or FIA rated (8859-2015 or 8860-2018) helmet.
Race Prepared Vehicles:
Operators in a race-prepared car must wear a one-piece SFI- or FIA-rated driver’s suit with a minimum of two layers. A current SA2015 or higher rated competition-approved helmet and closed-toed shoes, either leather or Nomex recommended. Nomex gloves, balaclavas and socks are also recommended, as is an approved head and neck restraint system. VIR defines a race-prepared car as, "any Vehicle in which the cockpit has been altered or modified in any way so that any part of the chassis or any firewall has been exposed."
Registration, Payment, and Waitlist:
All attendees will be placed on "hold" status until prior experience is reviewed and verified. Payments will be processed upon signup.
Instructors:

Track Damage:
All participants are liable for damages caused to the track and its facilities. In the event of an incident that causes damages, the cost of the damage to the track will be charged to the credit card on file after the event is complete.

Registering for this event acknowledges agreement to comply with these rules set-forth above.
All Participants must pre-register for this event. All experience listed WILL BE VERIFIED to ensure safe run group assignments.
