San Francisco Bay Coffee Facility Tour

San Francisco Bay Coffee

About this event

A tour on Saturday, January 20, 2018 of San Francisco Bay Coffee will be our first event for our MBZ Section in 2018. The no-cost tour will begin at 10:00 a.m. promptly and will last approximately 90 minutes, beginning with a film and history of Rogers Family Coffee, aka San Francisco Bay Coffee, and a Q&A session where you may ask anything coffee related including; the roasting process, various methods of brewing including “Cold Brew” and “French Press”, their proprietary pods, the most expensive coffee beans, what is the additional process to make the coffee decaffeinated, their relationship with Costco and anything else.  We will then begin an approximate 1 hour walking facility tour on the production floor with further explanation of the equipment and the production process from raw coffee beans to roasted coffee beans.

You should arrive at the facility by 9:40 a.m. allowing time for possibly a cup of coffee in the lobby, and if needed, to use the bathroom facilities before the actual tour begins.   As this is a coffee tour with coffee available and that the directions are quite easy to follow, we will meet in the lobby of San Francisco Bay Coffee’s facility at 1731 Aviation Blvd in Lincoln – directions follow.

Please also note the following:

  1. No food or drink is allowed in the Plant Production Facility.
  2. Please be prepared to be on your feet for the entire plant tour, however, they can accommodate members using a cane and those who may require the use of a personal wheelchair.
  3. Also, children under the age of 10 are not able to join the plant tour as the facility is a working facility with the possibility of equipment, including forklifts, operating during our tour.
  4. Required dress code: Long pants for both men &women. Women wearing dresses or skirts will not be able to enter the plant floor. Tank tops, shorts, sleeveless shirts and opened toe shoes; sandals, thongs, clogs, moccasins, sandals with socks do not meet the dress code requirements. Again, CLOSED-TOE SHOES are mandatory on the plant tour!
  5. While touring the actual production area, you will also be required to wear a hair net which San Francisco Bay Coffee will provide. Gentlemen with beards/facial hair will need to use a beard net as well.
  6. Purses/backpacks are not allowed on the production floor.  They can be left with the receptionist, or if preferred, in your vehicle.

After the facility tour, samples may be provided and you will also have the opportunity to purchase coffee, some that are only available at the facility or via their website and not available at Costco or other brick and mortar locations.

LUNCH AT ZAKURO SUSHI BISTRO

After the tour, we will caravan as a group to Zukaro Sushi Bistro, a Japanese restaurant located at 835 Twelve Bridges Drive in Lincoln for lunch at 12:00 p.m.  You will be able to order anything on the menu and separate checks will be available.  (As Nancy & I live a few blocks away in Sun City Lincoln Hills, we have been here many times and suggest their Bento Box for lunch – a good meal for $10 that includes soup, salad, rice and two selections or their lunch specials.) They also have on their menu; Sushi (Maki, Nigiri, Temaki), Sashimi, Donburi, Udon, Ramen and other related selections.
