Rocky Mountain Thunder HPDE

Saturday, June 17 and Sunday, June 18, 2017

 

NOTE: The DE event is in conjunction with the National Club Race being held the same weekend.  Only experienced DE drivers are allowed to participate. To qualify for the 2017 Rolling Thunder DE you need to have:

  • You have driven in at least two RMR/AMR HPDE events in the last two seasons
  • You have driven in at least one event at High Plains Raceway

Registration approval for instructed DE drivers will be dependent upon the number of instructors available for the event.  Preference will be given to more experienced instructed students, depending on the number of drivers and instructors who register, but we will try to accommodate everyone we can.  We cannot have shared driver cars unless one driver has previously run in the Expanded Passing run groups (Orange or Black).

Date:          Saturday, June 17 and Sunday, June 18, 2017

                   Gates open on Thursday, June 15, 2017 at 3:00PM

                   Registration is on Saturday and Sunday mornings at 7:00AM in the Classroom

                   Registration will also be available on Friday afternoon at 3:30PM in the Classroom

Event Registration fees:  Two days - $300.00  (no co-driver discount)  (4 sessions on Saturday and 4 sessions on Sunday)

                                            Saturday only - $190.00 (no co-driver discount) (4 sessions)

                                            Sunday only - $190.00 (no co-driver discount ) (4 sessions)

                                            Saturday night dinner tickets are $20.00 in advance.  Dinner tickets at the track will be $25.00 

                                            MANDATORY drivers' meeting each day in the classroom

 

 

"Brats and Blues" party Friday night featuring Kirby Velarde's blues band!

 

On both Saturday and Sunday we will offer noon time parade laps for a $20 charity donation.  You can take your personal car on some  low speed laps around the HPR track.  

 

For this event we are using deferred billing.  Your credit card will be charged on Tuesday, June 13, 2017

Accommodations:  Residents in Byers, Deer Trail, etc. are offering to rent their extra bedroom(s) to High Plains Raceway Drivers. $80.00 single per night and $95.00 double per night. Either a shared or private bath.  A continental breakfast at The Inn at The Feed Store  is included.  Room(s) available Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights. Please call Roberta Roth at Byers America  303-822-5625 or email byersamerica@netecin.net  The Inn at The Feed Store has a bunk bed room in the Back 40.  A bunk bed is available for $39 per night with a shared bath.  A continental breakfast is also included.

Budget Host Longhorn Motel – Byers, CO - 303-822-5205. This is an older facility, but clean and closer to the track.e

Rooms are being held for Club Racers and DE drivers at the

Residence Inn Denver Airport (CR headquarters hotel) 45 minutes from the track.  Save money and stay first class at the Residence Inn for only $129.00 per night (plus tax).   Accommodations include:

·  Spacious Studio Suite with fully equipped kitchen, living room, sofa sleeper, work desk, king bed, and full bath.

·  Complimentary full hot breakfast buffet served daily.

Event requirements

National PCA membership number and membership status will be verified as part of the registration process.  If you do not include a valid PCA membership number (or forward a pending membership confirmation from PCA to the registrar), a $10 non-member fee will be assessed.

You must be 18 or older with a valid driver's license to participate in this event.  Your driver's license will be checked at registration!

This event is open only to experienced drivers, you will need clearance from the RMR Driving Instructors for independent track driving to participate.  You will be listed as ON HOLD until the CDIs confirm you for the event. 

You will need to have a Snell-certified SA2010 or M2010 or newer helmet. Your helmet will be checked at Pre-Tech! It must have an RMR/PCA sticker on it. You will need to wear long pants(made of natural fibers)  and an all cotton short or long sleeve shirt , and closed toe shoes while driving. For out of town drivers your helmet will be checked at Tech at the track or on the grid at top tech.

No convertibles or open cars without roll-over protection. No trucks or non-Porsche SUVs.

A tow hook needs to be installed on your front bumper before you grid your car.

If you do not pre-tech your car there will be a $50. charge for Tech at the Track!

***If you live out of state please email the registrar for a copy of the RMR Tech Inspection Form that will need to be filled out by a knowledgeable mechanic.
