FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Expect to be inside your vehicle, or inside the heated classroom for the remainder of the clinic. Do not wear large winter boots, but rather warm hiking boots, or similar.

Can I bring my 4x4 truck/SUV?

Do I need to have a 4-wheel drive vehicle?

No, any vehicle is permitted, as long as it has the appropriate tires fitted. (M+S, 3PMSF, or Winter Rated)

Do I require a tire designed for winter driving?

You must have one of the following types of tires to participate:

  • All-season M+S (mud and snow)
  • Snow (3 peak mountain snowflake)
  • A tire designated as a winter tire.
  • You cannot use summer tires for this clinic.
  • Steel-studded tires are not permitted for this clinic as they will damage the asphalt surface.

Is this an ice racing school?

No, the winter driving clinic is 100% developed for normal street/highway traffic winter driving techniques. There is no aspect of this clinic that teaches racing.

Why must my vehicle have minimum 5 inches of ground clearance?

The surface of the road will mimic normal winter conditions with snow and ice. Lower than 5 inches of ground clearance will possibly result in damage to the front/underside of your vehicle.

No, the clinic is designed for single occupants in vehicles only.

Can I share a car with my friend or family member?

No, each participant must have their own vehicle.

No, your vehicle does not require these functions. However, it is highly recommended.

Is the winter driving clinic weather permitting?

Yes, the event requires a sufficient amount of snow coverage. The event will NOT continue in the case of weather dropping below -30C.

What happens if there isn’t enough snow?

In the event that the weather is either warmer than anticipated, and/or there is not enough snow coverage, the clinic will be re-scheduled for a later date. Additionally, should the weather be extremely cold (below -30C), the event will be re-scheduled for a later date.

Do I need to have previous winter driving experience to join the event?
