Rules and Regulations

Technical Regulations
1. Maximum overall width of the car shall not exceed 2.750” (this includes the wheels). 2. Maximum overall Length shall not exceed 7.000”
3. Car must have a minimum of 1.750” from inside edge to inside edge between wheels (this measurement is taken between wheels sharing the same axle).
4. Maximum overall height may not exceed 3.000”.
5. It is suggested that a minimum ride height of .375” be respected to prevent rubbing on the track. 6. Maximum weight shall not exceed 6.000 oz or 170.097 grams. There is no minimum weight. The official scale used at time of inspection is the official event scale and will be considered final. 7. Use of springs, self-propelling or starting devices are prohibited.
8. Only use of dry powder lubricants is permitted.
Sporting Regulations:
1. Each car must pass technical inspection by the inspection committee before it is allowed to compete.
2. Once a car passes inspection and is entered into the race, only race committee members can touch the car.
3. Cars not meeting the technical regulations will be disqualified.
4. Cars that have been purchased, instead of built, will be allowed, as long as the car is to be found compliant with the technical regulations and passes inspection by the inspection committee. 5. Cars that were built and used in other Pinewood derby competition are allowed, as long as the car is to be found compliant with the technical regulations and passes inspection by the inspection committee
6. If a car loses a wheel, or is otherwise damaged, the racer shall have 5 minutes to make repairs. All repairs will be done under supervision by a member of the race committee.
a. Use of lubricants is NOT allowed during the repair process.
b. Competitors are responsible for providing any tools or materials to make any adjustments or repairs.
7. If during a race, a car leaves the track, runs out of its lane, interferes with another car, the race will be rerun.
a. Should the same car have problems on the 2nd run, that car loses the race.
NO protests and NO crying.
All decisions made by the race officials are final.
Class Eligibility
Group 1 - Competitor Ages 10-13 ("Youth")
Group 2 - Competitor Ages 14-17 ("Teen")
Trophies
Trophies will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishers in each category.
Additional awards will be awarded for the best appearance and the most creative design.
Lemons of Love reserves the right to restructure/reorganize the class groupings based upon registration numbers and attendees.
Race Format
1. Race format will be double elimination. The winner of the Winner’s bracket is declared the overall winner. The loser of the final race in the winner’s bracket will face the winner of the 2nd chance bracket to determine the 2nd place finisher of the event.
2. Numbers will be drawn at random during registration to determine bracket starting order.
