Sunday is a PCA High-Performance Driver’s Education Program open to men and women!

 


Christina Nielsen, a three-time racing champion who will be sharing her experiences and tips on how to get the most out of your track experience.

 

In celebration of International Women’s Day, PCA-LA are pleased to bring you Accelerating Change: Women’s Track Day! Join us for a women’s High Performance Driver’s Education (HPDE) program featuring Christina Nielsen, three-time racing champion, as our guest instructor.

 

Event Details:

Event Novice/Safety Orientation: Friday, February 28, 2020 (for Saturday participants) and Saturday, February 29, 2020 (for Sunday participants) - 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

The Event Safety Orientation will be led by Scott Mann, Chief Driving Instructor and will focus on information for first-time drivers, but will be relevant to all participants. Advanced tech inspections will be available at this time and location.

Women’s Track Day: Saturday, February 29, 2020
Track Time: 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Venue: Streets of Willow Springs Raceway located at 70th St W, Rosamond, CA 93560

HPDE Track Day for All: Sunday, March 01, 2020
Track Time: 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Cost:

Participants:
$199 single day/$378 both days
Registration fee includes track time, an instructor, light morning refreshments, and lunch. Saturday includes a post-event social and a drawing.

Helmet Rental (optional):
$25 per person (helmets are mandatory and there will be a few available for rent)

Instructors (participating in run group):
$75/day
Registration fee for instructors who are mentoring a participant and who wish to participate in a run group, includes meals and a run group.

All Vehicles Driving Onto Track Grounds:
$15/person gate fee; payable to Willow Springs in cash, at the gate upon arrival.

No charge for instructors not participating in run group or volunteers (complimentary lunch will be provided).

Advance registration is mandatory and there will be no same-day sign-ups. 

 

Eligibility:

Saturday is open to all women 18+ years of age with a valid driver's license. Guys are more than welcome to instruct and support. We hope you’ll join in on the fun.

  • No prior on-track driving experience required.
  • Participants will be required to sign all appropriate waivers.
  • This is a PCA event run under PCA rules.

Scott Mann, Zone 8 and National Chief Driving Instructor will be recruiting and leading instructors.

  • Each instructor will be vetted by our Chief Driving Instructor prior to being approved to instruct.
  • Instructors will not be charged or confirmed until approved.
  • We reserve the right to approve and decline as needed.

 

Cars, Helmets and Clothing:

  • Participants must provide their own cars, and cars must pass tech inspections. All car marques are welcome - this event is open to all car marques and is not exclusive to Porsche. No high centre-of-gravity SUVs, trucks, minivans or large sedans.
  • All car occupants must wear a Snell approved helmet (SA, SAH, K or M), which has the current available Snell rating or the one previous Snell rating. Expiring helmets shall be accepted until June 30 of the year after the new standard. (Note: For 2020 Only, 2010 helmets are good through December 31.) If it is a Snell K or M rated helmet and the occupant is required to wear a driving suit, then the occupant must also wear a Nomex balaclava (head sock). Any other helmet currently approved for PCA Club Racing also qualifies. Evidence of this approval shall be provided by the driver, if necessary; such as a current PCA Club Racing inspection sticker or presentation of the Club Race rules. 
  • All head and neck devices used in conjunction with 5- or 6-point harnesses must use SA2010 or newer HANS anchored helmets. Foam neck collars or 'doughnuts' are strictly prohibited.
  • Footwear must be enclosed, non-slip, with a relatively smooth sole. Hiking-type deep-lugged soles are not acceptable.

Hotel Information

For those wishing to get accommodation near the track, we’ve secured a block of rooms at the Best Western Desert Poppy Inn, a short 20-minute drive to Willow Springs International Raceway. Rooms are available on either Friday, February 28 and/or Saturday, February 29 at a Preferred Rate of $115+taxes/night.

The rate includes a complimentary daily breakfast buffet with assorted hot and cold items from 5:00am - 9:00am M-F, and 6:00am - 10:00am Sat & Sun, high-speed internet access and mini-refrigerators and microwaves in each room.

Book early as our group rate is only applicable for reservation made until February 20, 2020.

Event requirements

Important Stuff:

  1. Registration is critical — priority for instructor allocation and acceptance into this limited event is decided by date of registration. In the unfortunate event that you register but we don’t have an available instructor, or place available, you will not be charged for registration or a cancelation fee. Your credit card is not charged at time of registration. It will be charged on a space available basis as we confirm you into the event and prior to the event taking place. Registration does not guarantee track time. You must sign all waivers and comply with the rules of the event to qualify.
     
  2. Instructors may be male or female. The invitation to attend on Saturday, as a driver, is extended to women only. All are welcome on Sunday.
     
  3. You will be assigned an instructor unless:
    You update your Motorsport Reg profile with your track driving experience (i.e. # of events driven, tracks driven, OK to solo by whom and when), or
    You have been signed off  “OK to Solo” by a Zone 8 DE Instructor.
     
  4. You must present a completed safety inspection form and a valid driver’s license during registration at the track. PCA-LA will assign and supply sticky numbers for your car which attach to the glass of your windshield and rear window. Please find our Tech Inspection form here.
     
  5. Novice are required to attend our Novice/Event Safety Orientation:

  6. Final event details, schedules and instructions will be emailed to you about 3 days before the event.  
     
  7. All registered participants will be provided lunch. Light morning refreshments will be available to all participants. Guests may purchase lunch at the Willow Springs Diner.
     
  8. If you are sharing a car with someone, you both need to register separately. The registration form has a section where you can provide your car-sharing details.
     
  9. Helmets are required and participants are encouraged to provide their own helmet, which must be certified Snell SA2015 or SA2005 or higher (other helmets are acceptable if they are approved for PCA Club Racing). There will be a limited number of helmets available for rental — please reserve in advance on the following registration form.
