Northeast GT Round 2 | Day 3 | Race Day

Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park

About this event

Welcome to Real Clean Racing with Northeast GT

Northeast GT 2024 Event Calendar

Northeast GT stands for Northeast Grassroots Touring (NEGT), and Northeast GT exists to bring real, clean racing to the road racing circuits of New England and the Northeast. NEGT presents the Northeast GT Cup a strictly no-contact racing championship.

Round 2 of the 2024 Northeast GT Cup is at Thompson Speedway and features a 3 Hour Race on Saturday as well as Sunday. Spectators are welcome. Free Camping for the weekend from Thursday night to Monday morning. Limited electric hook-up is available. Day 1 Practice & Race School and Day 2 Race Day are also available.

Race Day:

Each race day will feature two race groups: Sunday, and GTSU. Sunday will be dedicated to Sunday Cup vehicles. GTSU will include GT Cup, GTS Cup, Super Cup, and Super Unlimited vehicles. Each race group will receive a 60 minute timed qualifying session followed by a 3 hour race. Two (2) driver swaps required per race. Can be run with teams of 1, 2, or 3 drivers.

Grid order will be determined by the fastest lap run between either the Saturday Race or the Sunday morning Qualifying session  whichever is faster.

NEGT Cup Car Classes – All vehicles must be production-car based and prepared for wheel-to-wheel racing, run 200 treadwear tires, and meet Factory Rated Power-to-Weight based ratios:

  • 7 : 1  Super Cup
  • 9 : 1  GTS Cup
  • 11 : 1  GT Cup
  • 14 : 1  Sunday Cup

Northeast GT will admit select Super Unlimited vehicles “beyond” the limits of the Northeast GT Cup classes to run alongside GT Cup, GTS Cup, and Super Cup vehicles. Super Unlimited does not mean “unlimited unlimited”; see Northeast GT rulebook for details.

Power-to-Weight ratios are otherwise Modified based on: vehicle age, major engine modifications, drivetrain layout, transmission, differential, suspension, tire width, and aero. If you need help classing your car, please refer to the NEGT Classing Calculator. Feel free to submit the form if there are still any questions.

All drivers must hold a racing license and/or significant prior wheel-to-wheel experience. Drivers successfully completing a Northeast GT Race School are also eligible. GT Race School is available at the Round 2 Thompson Speedway event on Friday.

Northeast GT expects Real Clean Racing, as best possible, for 3 Hours straight. No contact – Refer to Racing Rules in the 2024 NEGT Rulebook.
