Old Hickory Chapter BMWCCA Drivers Education Event
Nashville Superspeedway - Lebanon, TN
Sponsored by:
Drivers, mark your calendars! The Old Hickory Chapter BMWCCA is hosting its first-ever Drivers Education Event at the Nashville Superspeedway on May 21st, 2011. This event is open to drivers of all experience levels, and you don't have to drive a BMW to come out and have an incredible time on the track with us! Nashville Superspeedway is home to both the NASCAR Nationwide and Camping World Truck Series, but also features a 1.8-mile infield road course we will be running on that is host to numerous motorcycle and road racing events throughout the year. The course is technical and challenging, and provides a great environment to improve your skills as a driver. The facilities at Nashville Superspeedway also provide some fantastic amenities for participants. Garage spots are available to ensure you won't be stuck in any inclement weather and provide a fantastic location for working on your car and mingling with your fellow enthusiasts.
*Cost:
BMWCCA members: $159
Non-members: $199
Instructors: $25
*covered garage spaces available for the day for an additional $25
We will be running novice, intermediate, advanced, and instructor run groups on track. All run groups will have almost 2 hours of track time and the novice and intermediate groups will receive additional classroom instruction and be paired with instructors for the day. Intermediate and advanced drivers are eligible to run solo with a check ride from a qualified instructor. Whenever possible, we strive to have only one student assigned per instructor, leaving plenty of time for our instructors to enjoy the day and their time on the track. If you are a certified instructor and would be interested in sharing your knowledge with our students, please email your driving/instructing resume to anitti@oldhickorybmwcca.org for consideration.
We'll see you at the track!

Run Group Classifications:
Novice: This class is for entry level participants, including first-timers on the track and those with very limited Drivers Education event experience. Novice students attend classroom sessions and have an expert instructor assigned to them for the day. The focus is on the basics of high speed driving in a safe and controlled environment, as well as safety procedures, driving 'the line', and car control dynamics.
Intermediate: This is a mid-level class for participants who have previous Drivers Education event experience and have demonstrated a level of skill, smoothness and safety on track that classes them above the 'novice' level. Intermediate students likewise attend classroom sessions and ride with instructors throughout the day. Intermediate students exhibiting a high level of safe consistency on track may have the opportunity to run solo if signed off by their on-track instructor and approved by the Chief Instructor.
Advanced: This is a solo run group for drivers that have considerable Drivers Education experience and have received substantial instruction. All advanced drivers are expected to show a complete knowledge of track etiquette and safety procedures. This group does not require an instructor’s sign-off and sometimes has more relaxed passing restrictions as compared to novice or intermediate run groups.
Instructor: This run group consists of the event instructors and occasionally advanced level drivers with very high levels of skill and experience. As with the advanced group, Instructors typically have more relaxed passing restrictions.
