HPDE
If you are interested in learning the basics of High Performance Driving or simply want to drive your car on a racetrack in a controlled and professionally staffed environment, then NASA’s High Performance Driving Event is for you. NASA HPDE gives you a chance to test your skills and learn from NASA's pool of experienced instructors at a venue designed for safe, spirited driving far away from the risks present on the street. Our HPDE program has become the standard for the 'open track' industry and features multiple skill levels to ensure that you are able to enjoy a safe and fun day at the track.
HPDE 1: If you've never been on track before or would like to be guaranteed an instructor, sign up for HPDE 1. We do not rent transponders for HPDE 1. Selecting the HPDE 1 option automatically assigns you an instructor. Please do not select the instructor option. No passengers will be permitted in this group other than your instructor.
HPDE 2: Drivers that have been signed off to drive on their own but want more time at HPDE 1 speeds and skill level. So, Group 2 is Group 1, but with no instructor assignment. We do not rent transponders for HPDE 2. No passengers will be permitted in this group.
HPDE 3: Saturday will work up to additional passing by the end of the day. Sunday will be a continuation, starting with limited passing and then picking up pace and passing areas in subsequent sessions. This should better prepare drivers for Group 4. Sunday only entrants should be aware of this. Passengers may be permitted in this group if you have been approved by the HPDE leader. All passengers must be 18 years of age or older.
HPDE 4: Advanced drivers with open passing skills. All HPDE 4 drivers who are new to NASA must be pre-approved by the Chief Instructor before being allowed to drive in HPDE 4. Passengers may be permitted in this group if you have been approved by the HPDE leader. All passengers must be 18 years of age or older.
Additionally, all drivers registering for HPDE4 must be pre-approved by the group leader prior to the event. If you have not participated in a NASA HPDE4 event within the last two years and do not have a NASA license, you MUST e-mail jperry@drivenasa.com for screening and approval.
