NASA at Thunderhill Raceway Park

Thunderhill Raceway Park

About this event

Going back to its roots, NASA NorCal presents the 12 Hours of Thunderhill. Twelve straight hours of racing guarantees you will get plenty of windshield time.

  • Assigned Paddock and Pit spaces, plenty of time to set up.
  • Testing will be available on Friday (separate fee).

Low Entry Fee

ANY number of drivers and crew is all covered by one low entry fee! $2195 pays for everything required. Save $200 off this by entering early, making it only $1995!

The Team Racing Endurance Challenge is designed to make endurance racing fun, safe, and accessible — without compromising competition integrity. With flexible tire regulations, straightforward licensing, and minimal barriers for entry, TREC offers a gateway into motorsports for drivers seeking their first taste of endurance racing or seasoned racers looking for more track time.

TREC encourages team involvement while keeping event costs manageable:

  • Entry fees and registration responsibilities reside with the Team Captain (team owner)
  • Each driver must also register individually and be listed on their team.

This structure makes endurance racing approachable for small teams and budget-conscious competitors.

Easy Licensing = Get On Track Quickly!

  • No previous competition license or racing experience required to participate — just a valid driver’s license and enthusiasm for racing.
  • While a NASA Competition License or TREC license is required to register and compete in TREC events, NASA makes this affordable and straightforward.
  • A TREC competition license is available for purchase through your NASA profile for just $20 — making this one of the most cost-effective pathways into competitive racing.
  • Drivers new to TREC will need to submit a Provisional License application and complete NASA’s basic rules test. With safe driving and participation in three events, provisional status can be elevated to full TREC license standing.

This streamlined process lets drivers spend less time on paperwork and more time on the track — leveling the playing field for those who want to race without long licensing waits or high fees.

A TREC license is not needed if you have a NASA license for Instructing, Time Trial, or Competition.

  • Five time-bracketed classes. This means fair, fun racing, with no impound.
  • Daylight only. This means no expensive lighting required.
  • Strict NO CONTACT rules enforced.
  • FREE NASA membership and TREC license and crew credential charge
  • Six-minute timed fuel stops (except unlimited class). Greatly reduces costs.
  • Standard fueling jugs (except Unlimited class) Keeps costs down.
  • Low entry fee. ANY number of drivers and crew is all covered by one low entry fee! $2195 pays for everything required. Save $200 off this by entering early, making it only $1995!
