About this event
NAAC welcomes you to join us on our annual Spring Tour on April 9. It is time to wake up your cars from their winters nap (or all cleaned from all the slush and snow), meet up with your fellow auto enthusiasts, tour the Maine and New Hampshire seacoast, and finally sample some really unique beers.
Our tour this year leaves at 10 AM sharp (gather starting at 9:30 AM) from the Northbound rest stop on I-95 in Kittery, Maine just 3.4 miles from the border of New Hampshire and ends at the Throwback Brewery in North Hampton, NH.
The first stop on our tour will be the Nubble Lighthouse, built in 1879 for $15k and still in operation with its original Fresnel lens. The image of The Nubble is on the “golden record” launched with Voyager 1 in 1977, along with images of the Great Wall and the Taj Mahal; now 23 billion km from Earth.
Following the Nubble Lighthouse we will follow the coastline south through York Harbor and Kittery Maine past the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard and over the Piscataqua River into New Hampshire. The tour hangs a left onto New Castle past Wentworth, which hosted delegations to the Treaty of Portsmouth which ended the Russo-Japanese war in 1905.
Leaving New Castle, we continue to follow the coastline south past Brit Bits, Pulpit Rock Tower and some beautiful homes along the NH coast. (If each one of us on the tour puts in $50K we might be able to buy one). Reaching the town of North Hampton we will head west a few miles to the Throwback Brewery for beer tasting and a light lunch if you so desire.
The fee for this event is $12 / person for ACNA/BMWPorsche Club member and $15/ person for non club members swhich covers the beer tasting or a single pint of beer if you so choose. Additional beer and food is not covered.
We will be arriving at the brewery at 12 noon so you can expect to be on your way between 1 and 2 pm to enjoy the rest of your day. Note, there are outlet stores in Kittery ME just 12 miles up the road with my favorite store being the Kittery Trading Post.
