Let’s take a scenic ride up to North Georgia, starting in Oakwood, GA and ending in Clarkesville, GA, where we'll visit a unique collection of automobiles at the Miles Through Time Museum on April 23, 2022. We’ll meet in Gainesville, GA at the McDonald's on Munday Mill Road. Plan to arrive by 9:30 AM with a prompt 10:00 AM departure. From Atlanta, take I-85 North to I-985, and continue north to exit 16. Exit and turn left. McDonald's is on the right. There are rest rooms available for that last pit stop.
Driving directions from Oakwood, GA to Clarkesville, GA will be mailed prior to the event for you to print out.
We’ll take a scenic leisurely drive through the piedmont of North Georgia from Oakwood, GA to Clarkesville, GA and on to Clayton, GA. Along the way you’ll pass the 1996 Olympic Rowing venue on Lake Lanier. Once in Clarksville, we’ll have lunch at Fresco's Restaurant: 1429 Washington Street, Clarksville, GA. Please make sure not to park in the furniture store parking lot. Instead, you can park at the old courthouse. Lunch can be ordered off their menu with individual checks.
After lunch, we'll tour the Miles Through Time Automotive Museum which has stunning, ever-changing collection of automobiles, memorabilia, signage, and art. All the displays have been donated to the museum or are privately owned by people in the community showcasing their beloved automobiles and memorabilia for everyone to enjoy.
Admission to the museum is $10.00 per person or $8.00 per person if we have more than 20 people. Event registration is $10.00 per car. Water and snacks will be handed out prior to departure. After the museum tour, those who’d like to continue driving can take an additional drive to Clayton, GA led by Robert Sutter and return home to via GA-365, which turns into I-985. Anyone who does not want to continue can return home via GA 365.
