About this event
Join Peachtree Section’s Vice President Gary Edwards and Director Dean Prince for an hour discussion of the lessons learned replacing the M104 engine head gasket on an R129 SL320, Sunday, January 24, at 4:00PM Eastern Standard Time.
The M104 engine was the dual overhead cam, four valve per cylinder, in-line 6 cylinder engine used in the E class, S class and the SL from the early to mid-90’s. Gary comments, “Just about all of these engines will need the head gasket replaced somewhere between 100,000 and 200,000 miles. I recently did this on our 1994 SL320. This presentation is not a “how to change your head gasket” talk – it seems to me that there is more “how to” information on this topic than nearly anything else I’ve done - this is about what I learned doing it; what I wish I’d known beforehand. This work is certainly a job you can do yourself, but it’s a little different from most head gasket replacements.”
The price is $10 dollars per person, to help defray costs of the ZOOM VTC and to hopefully augment our pretty austere budget. We anticipate about 60 minutes of presentation, followed by questions and answers. It will be a fun afternoon of car talk and you won’t want to miss it!

We plan to record this event, so be aware that your voice and potentially image may be recorded.
The session will be conducted via Zoom Video Teleconference. No NEED to leave your home. You can easily join the ZOOM meeting by computer, iPhone, iPad, Android device, or by telephone.
IMPORTANT ZOOM VTC SECURITY NOTE: The organizers are well aware of security issues that have been brought to light over the last year concerning ZOOM VTCs. ZOOM has implemented many security fixes and we have instituted a number of security precautions, which include a set of ground rules that will be covered at the start of the presentation. As these ground rules constitute part of our security system, it is important to follow them.
It would be best to download the Zoom app beforehand to simplify connection. We’ll plan to have the VTC up by 3:45 pm EST so we can hopefully get any technical issues out of the way. Please be on time, as we do not expect to be able to admit participants to the event after the 4 pm EST start time.
By this time you are probably wondering where the ZOOM VTC information is. As part of our security precautions, we will send out the ZOOM VTC information on the Friday before the event, typically about mid-day. If you don't see the email with the information by that Friday evening, contact the event organizer Friday evening or Saturday morning. This is why it's so important that you receive the confirmation email, as this email address is what will be used to send out the VTC information.
