Indiana Rallycross™ – 2013 Badlands Rally Series
Points Event #1, May 18th 2013
Indiana Rallycross is excited to announce the first of a 4 part racing series that takes us back to the Badlands in Attica Indiana.
The Badlands isn’t just a gravel quarry and sand dunes, they have countless acres of surrounding farmland at their disposal. And what was soybeans last year is being turned into Indiana’s premiere rally track for 2013. And this isn’t freshly tilled, rutted up farmland either. This is flat, hard packed, grass covered pasture – if it looked any nicer they’d be putting in a golf course. And we have 50 acres available and are ready to make what is sure to be the fastest, longest, most exciting rally event Indiana has ever seen.
50 acres means that we can make a course up to 3 miles long including tight technical sections connected by all out straights and sweeping turns over the lightly rolling hills. And as if that wasn’t enough, we will also have short sections of dirt roads available through the surrounding woods to really give this race that stage rally feel.
Online registration available soon, $45 for preregistration. $50 walk up registration the day of.
This event will be free for spectators, however there will be a $5 parking fee per car. Spectators are encouraged to show up, we will have dedicated spectator areas available to watch the action, so bring your air horns and cowbells.
3450 Brier Rd, Attica, IN 47918
(We don’t have an exact address but this will get you close enough. if you were there for the last Badlands race, this is on the left about half a mile beyond the gate we used last time)

Safety is our number 1 goal. We want everyone to have a good time, but safety comes first.
1. Every driver, rider, and spectator must sign a waiver upon entering the property
2. Absolutely no alcohol or drugs on the property
3. No burnouts, drifting, or speeding the parking area or on Brier Rd.
4. DOT certified helmets required by all drivers and passengers
5. Windows must be up while racing
6. Spectators must stay in the designated areas
7. Any safety concerns or questions should be brought up with a safety steward or race organizer.
Vehicles must be in good running order and must undergo a quick safety inspection. The safety steward will look for things including:
1. Battery secured
2. Engine fluid levels
3. loose items in car
4. Wheels and suspension components not loose
Car Classes and Scoring:
Cars will be divided into 4 classes based on modifications and power level. Car classing is subjective and race officials will have the final say on which class cars should be entered in to.
D Class: stock and low power 2WD cars only
C Class: stock and moderate power 2WD, and stock low power AWD cars
B Class: Modified 2WD cars and moderate powered AWD cars
A Class: Open class – modified, high power cars.
Our goal is to take a traditional rallycross and mix in the excitement of a stage rally. That means a long course laid out with traffic cones with a mix of high speed and technical sections. Cars will be sent off from the starting gate at 30 to 60 second intervals with the fastest cars first. If you’re familiar with a rally “Super Special” stage, this will be setup very similar to that.
Like other rallycross events, your final score will be based on the total cumulative times for all runs that day.
Remember, this is an off-road event on an unimproved surface. We are doing everything we can to ensure the track is well prepared and safe for all cars. The course will consist primarily of grass and hard packed dirt, however like most Indiana farmland, ruts are possible and rocks can work their way to the surface. We will take every reasonable precaution and fully expect the course to be fine for all cars and drivers of all experience levels, but at the end of the day it is up to you to decide whether or not you feel safe competing.
We are very excited about this event, as are the owners of the Badlands. They have high expectations for participation and spectators and want to see this becoming a regular event. We’ve signed up for 3 additional events this year at the same location, probably in July, September, and November (exact dates TBD) – and possibly even more next year. We really want this to be the premier rallycross location in the Midwest.
Please pass this along, share it with your friends and anyone you think might be interested in driving or spectating. This should be a really fun event, and the more people we can get out there, the better it will be.
