SAN DIEGO CHAPTER BMW CCA DRIVING SCHOOL

HIGH PERFORMANCE DRIVING SCHOOL AT CHUCKWALLA VALLEY RACEWAY

  • Saturday, March 16 and Sunday, March 17, at Chuckwalla Valley Raceway  (www.chuckwallavalleyraceway.com).
  • Chuckwalla Valley Raceway is only three hours from San Diego, Los Angeles, or Phoenix.
  • The track is 4.5 miles North of Interstate 10 at the Rice Road/Desert Center exit.
  • The school is open to all levels of drivers – from first-timers to experienced drivers .
  • We will drive the track in the clockwise direction.
  • It has some complex combinations, is not too intimidating, is very safe, and is long enough to keep you busy.
  • This is an excellent school track!

This is a driving skills improvement school, held under close supervision by trained instructors. Our intention is to teach students how to drive their everyday car better. For that reason, we encourage you to bring the car you drive most frequently with the standard equipment, so you can feel how it will react in different situations. See the "Pre-Reg Requirements" for a list of vehicles not allowed.

We use a racetrack to provide a safe, controlled environment. This is not a racing school. Emphasis will be on safe, smooth, controlled driving. At no time will you be pressed to go any faster than you are comfortable. Participants will be grouped according to experience and, to some degree, model of automobile. If the instructor feels you are in the wrong group, you will be moved. "First timers" are usually classified as novices.

Once again, our cost to you for this year is only $475.  If you sign up on MotorsportsReg prior to March 1st, your price will only be $425. If you decide to opt out of our traditional Saturday night dinner/raffle, your pre-March 1st registration cost would only be $400! The best part is you will still experience same quality instruction and safe driving environment you have grown accustomed to from our Chapter.

The Royal Plaza Inn will be our event headquarters. We will offer light appetizers at our event registration mixer on Friday night, March 15th, from 6:00-8:00 pm in  the hotel lobby. Please bring your Tech Inspection form, Medical Information form, proof of insurance and SNELL  2005 or newer helmet to get signed off during the registration process.

The Royal Plaza Inn is located at 82-347 US Highway 111, Indio, 760-347-0911 or 800 228 9559. Take Monroe street exit from I 10, go south 1.7 miles to Hwy 111, turn left, the Royal Plaza Inn is on right. Your cost per night at the hotel with our special rate is $89.00. The nice thing about this hotel is that it has an adjoining restaurant, Cactus Jack’s, that can accommodate us on Saturday night. This means that we will not have to drive anywhere once we get back to our hotel.

We have negotiated a reduced rate that the track will charge every person entering the premises to $15.00 per person for both days. You will have to pay this entrance fee separately upon initial entry on Saturday morning. The good news is that there is a great BBQ venue at the track and we will be organizing some great lunches for you both days that is part of your registration fee. Additional lunch and dinner tickets can be purchased when you register, if needed.

On Saturday night, we encourage everyone to join us for our traditional dinner/raffle that is always one of the highlights of the weekend. It is a great time to swap stories about almost swapping ends and reveling in the camaraderie we all share.

Please note that there is gas available on-site. Keep an eye on your tank level prior to leaving the track for the day as the nearest gas station heading westbound to the hotel is about 20 miles.

We are really excited about running our High Performance Driving School at Chuckwalla Valley Raceway as it will offer us many years of new experiences with new track layouts and additional amenities each year.

Once again, we would like to extend our warmest thanks to both of our long terms sponsors, Brecht BMW, (now BMW of Escondido) and Toyo Tires. Please check the Club website for any new information regarding this event  www.sdbmwcca.com.
