Back to the ‘Hood (and more garage space for Brian Cone)
Who needs more garage space? Well, all of us! That’s what I was thinking when I was driving by our old neighborhood in Beaverton and saw a for sale sign in front of a house. We built a house one block away from it in 1986 and had lived in the neighborhood for almost 20 years. We then build a new house less than 2 miles down the same street less and lived there for 12 years. It had a 3-car garage but I wanted more space.
The house for sale in our old neighborhood had a 1730 sq ft daylight basement with a garage door on the side street and it had a fishing boat and gear in it. Very plain and utilitarian with no walls, just a storage area.
For sale? Maybe I should check the listing……..
Wow! The last owner completely finished the basement! Sheetrocked walls, with a large shop, storage area, bathroom, art studio, big screen TV and surround sound system, and it held 5 Sunbeams (Alpines and Tigers). With an extra wide garage on the main level, it was up to a 7-car garage house!
Immediately, I decided that I must buy this house. And I was able to convince Wife that it was a good idea to move.
What a great garage! I remodeled the art studio into a man cave and updated the bathroom.
Recently, 3 CCA members from the New Jersey Chapter used my garage to prepare their E39’s (a Auberline sedan and a white wagon) that they bought for a cross-country trip back home. The garage perfectly suited their needs. Good to help fellow CCA members, and to have the garage used to help them.
I invite you to attend the next BMW garage tour at my house on May 19th. Please arrive between 10:00-10:30. Address is 6402 SW 155th Avenue in Beaverton. Please park in the driveway on 155th, and on SW Ivy and SW 154th Place.
Shortly before 11:30, we will depart for lunch at the Cruise In Country Diner http://cruiseincountry.com/ (9785 SW River Rd, Hillsboro). The café has a limit of 20 people for our group.
Please register soon. See you there!
