ITC Stand-alone Races one of many special eventsduring Memorial Day Double Regional at Nelson Ledges Road Course
The May 28-29 weekend will feature a full slate of SCCA Regional racing. The Mahoning Valley Region event will also include several unique events designed to increase participant enjoyment and involvement.
If you are an ITC racer this might be your chance of a life-time. Last year a group of ITC drivers asked if they could have their own race. After some discussion and agreement on minimum levels of participation the okay was given. A bunch of ITC drivers are looking forward to these races.
Formula First has also reached an agreement for their own race if they reach a minimum level of participation. Mahoning Valley has always been known as “The Friendly Region”. Finding a way to satisfy requests from racers is one way to live up to that slogan.
Race results for the weekend will also determine the winner of the third edition of the Divisional Challenge for the Nelson Cup. Great Lakes Division won the inaugural event in 2009, but Northeast Division evened the score in 2010.
The weekend races also mark the start of the 29thyear of the Kryderacing Regional Championship Series. All of the SCCA Regional races at Nelson Ledges and BeaveRun are included in the Championship.
Another returning favorite is the PDX events on both Saturday and Sunday. These are a favorite with friends and relatives of weekend racers, volunteer workers who want to experience what it is really like on track, and people who just want to have a little fun with their street car.
Event requirements
All competitors must have an SCCA membership. Temporary Weekend Memberships will be available at registration for $15.00. Participants under the age of 18 must have prior approval from SCCA Club Racing. Club racers must have proper licenses per the supplemental regulations.
FOR PDX COMPETITORS ONLY
Helmets must meet a minimum of Snell 2000 M or SA or higher. All drivers in open, Targa type, or T-top cars running with the roof panels removed must wear suitable eye protection, i.e., goggles, bubble shield, or face shield on full face helmets.
