Calling All Detailer Enthusiasts!

Mark your calendar now for what promises to be a very “engaging” Detail Clinic.  We are scheduling this event for 15 April, just in time to learn a few new tricks to get your car ready for the fun drives planned for this summer or, if you are so inclined, to have your baby professionally detailed to whatever level you might want.

We will meet at Perk’s Auto Spa, 611 SE 15th Street in Des Moines at 10am on Saturday, April 15th.  Owner Bob Perkins will walk us thru the process of detailing a car from start to finish.  He has over 22 years experience and is very well respected in the auto detailing community.  He has met Chip Foose from Overhaulin’ and Richard Rawlings from Gas Monkey Garage, and has worked with the detailer from Gas Monkey, Brian Hare.  For a little more info on him you can peruse his website:  http://www.perksautospa.net/

While we ask you bring a chair, it will likely only be used for lunch.  Bob will demonstrate his craft as opposed to simply talk about it.  While we are not sure what vehicle he will use, he will cover everything from talking us thru proper car washing/drying techniques, to actually demonstrating the latest clay bar alternatives, swirl removal methods to bring out the greatest shine possible, and then discuss/demonstrate how to protect your finish – be it with a wax product (shortest protection) all the way to the newest coatings, which can protect your finish for years.

Lunch is a club-subsidized $5 and comes in from Nick's Tenderloin on Army Post Road, home of the 2016 Iowa Pork Producers Tenderloin of the Year.  This event promises to be informative AND delicious, so don't miss it!
