Saturday, September 16, 20
17

This year our annual Concours d’Elegance will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at the beautiful Atlanta Athletic Club located in Johns Creek.

On Saturday September 16th, we will display our cars on the grounds of the beautiful and prestigious Atlanta Athletic Club.  Registration will open at 8:00 a.m. and cars must be in place by 9:00 a.m. Judging will begin at 10 a.m. and the show will conclude at 2:30 p.m.

Registration for this year’s show will be $30.00 per car which includes one catered lunch from the club.  Lunch for  passengers (assistant drivers) is not included in the registration fee but can be purchased for an additional $10.00.  There is no entry fee for spectators or guests, but since this is a secured private facility all spectators and their guests must register either via Motorsports or by using the registration form on the Peach Page in this newsletter to gain access to the club grounds and show.

The Concours committee voted to donate our proceeds from this event to the Ronald Mc Donald House charity.  If you wish to individually donate to this worthwhile charity, there will be instructions on the registration form on how to do so.

Car Classes for the 2017 Concours are:

  • Concours

Cars in this category must be at least 25 years old and represent the most perfect examples of the Mercedes-Benz marque. These cars are in excellent original condition, or are restored to original show quality standards. They will be judged per strict Mercedes Benz Club of America judging rules (undercarriages will not be judged) and by Mercedes-Benz Club of America certified judges. A 100-point system will be used to determine the best of the best.

  • Street

Cars in this class are usually driven on a regular basis. Street cars should be driven to the event.  Street cars will be judged in two divisions, Early Modern and Late Modern to determine those cars that are in the best original condition for their age and mileage.  Engine and trunks will be judged; undercarriages will not be judged. Judging will be performed Mercedes-Benz Club of America certified judges using the Mercedes Benz Club of America defined 100-point system designed for Street cars.

  • R129 SL Class

This year we will honor the R129 SL class.  Cars entered in this class will be judged using Mercedes-Benz Club of America judging rules (undercarriages will not be judged) by Mercedes-Benz Club of America certified judges. A 100-point system will be used to determine the best of the best.

  • Silver Star Preservation Certification

This is not a judged category but is designed to recognize and “Certify” cars 25 years of age or older that have not been restored or may be in progress of being restored. A Silver Star Preservation Class Mercedes-Benz must be driven to the Mercedes Benz Club of America event and have all its safety items operating. It must have a fire extinguisher. All safety items will be checked and must be totally operational to qualify your car as a Silver Star Preservation vehicle. Mercedes Benz Club of America ’s Concours Chairman will use a point system has been designed as a guideline and qualification of 60 points or better in three of five categories to earn the “Silver Star Preservation Certificate”. You must submit a photograph of your vehicle along with your Silver Star application form.  If you want to receive a Silver Star certification, please contact Doug Geganto dgeganto@charter.net so that the appropriate forms can be sent to you.

  • Ordinaire Class

Cars entered in the Ordinaire class will not be judged on the 100-point scale.  However, there will be a first, second and third place award for the Ordinaire class.  All Ordinaire participants will judge vehicles registered in this class.  Cars may be of any age or condition. They are for the enjoyment of all and will represent the average Mercedes-Benz’s that are driven daily.
