Concours d'Elegance 2016

Chateau Elan

About this event

2016 Concours d'Elegance
Saturday, October 8, 2016

This year our annual Concours will be held on the 18th fairway on Saturday, October 8th at the beautiful Chateau Elan in Braselton, Georgia (100 Rue Charlemagne, Braselton, Georgia 30517) and will be part of the 2016 inaugural Atlanta Concours d’ Elegance weekend which will be held on Sunday October 9th.

Because we were the first car club to commit to showing our cars we were able to select a prime location along the 18th fairway.  However, we won’t be alone as the organizers expect several other clubs to participate including Porsche and BMW.

On Saturday, local clubs will be able to display their vehicles along the 18th fairway.  This will allow all participants to not only see their own club’s cars but to peruse a wide assortment of vehicles.  Cars must be in place by 9 a.m. and off the fairway by 3 p.m.  Judging will begin at 10 a.m.

We have negotiated with the event organizers a slightly reduced fee for the first 50 people who register their cars.  This reduced fee is because Atlanta Classic Cars is offsetting a portion of our registration fees with their sponsorship.  The early registration fee will be $30.00 (includes Admission for one to Saturday’s events). Late registration after the first 50 entries have been received will be $45.00 (same as last year).  There will be a special registration form for late entries.

All spectators will need to pay the Saturday admission fee of $35.00.  See note about volunteer opportunities below for free admission.

Volunteers

If you volunteer to work at least two hours for the Concours your Saturday admission is FREE.  If you want to return again on Sunday for the Concours d’ Elegance and can volunteer to work for two hours on Sunday, you will receive a free admission.  Contact Doug Geganto at 404-754-9955 or at dgeganto@comcast.net if you would like to volunteer.

Street cars should be driven to the event.  Street cars will be judged in two divisions, Early Modern and Late Modern to determine those cars that are in the best original condition for their age and mileage.  Engine and trunks will be judged; undercarriages will not be judged. Judging will be performed Mercedes-Benz Club of America certified judges using the Mercedes Benz Club of America defined 100-point system designed for Street cars.

This is not a judged category but is designed to recognize and “Certify” cars 25 years of age or older that have not been restored or may be in progress of being restored. A Silver Star Preservation Class Mercedes-Benz must be driven to the Mercedes Benz Club of America event and have all of its safety items operating. It must have a fire extinguisher. All safety items will be checked and must be totally operational to qualify your car as a Silver Star Preservation vehicle. Mercedes Benz Club of America ’s Concours Chairman will use a point system has been designed as a guideline and qualification of 60 points or better in three of five categories to earn the “Silver Star Preservation Certificate”.   If you want to receive a Silver Star certification, please contact Teri or Craig Bierman yellowrose47@bellsouth.net so that the appropriate forms can be sent to you.

  • Ordinaire Class

Cars entered in the Ordinaire class will not be judged on the 100-point scale.  However, there will be a first, second and third place award for the Ordinaire class.  All Ordinaire participants will judge vehicles registered in this class.  Cars may be of any age or condition.
