About this event

Due to the success of the inaugural Track Sprint for BRR, Blue Ridge Region SCCA is proud to announce a second Track Sprint on Virginia International Raceway's Patriot Course on August 10, 2019.

The event will take place rain or shine on VIR's Patriot course and will be run as a Track Sprint, with each car launched at least 20 seconds after the previous car was launched. Entry will be limited to 80 participants in order to provide everyone with ample seat time.  We will be doing non-timed runs in the morning for course familiarization and timed runs in the afternoon.

Schedule 

7:00 AM: setup for trailer, grid, timing equipment

7:00 AM - 8:00 AM: driver check-in and tech

8:15 AM: Mandatory drivers’ meeting (all hands, no exceptions)

Untimed Sessions:

8:30 AM - 9:10 AM - Group 1

9:20 AM -10:00 AM - Group 2

10:10 AM -10:50 AM -  Group 3

11:00 AM - 11:40 AM - Group 4

11:50 AM - 12:50 PM Lunch

1:00 PM - 1:50 PM - Group 1

2:00 PM - 2:50 PM - Group 2

3:00 PM - 3:50 PM -  Group 3

4:00 PM - 4:50 PM - Group 4

Cost

SCCA membership is required for all entrants. Weekend memberships and walk up registration are not available for this event.

Entrants must show the Event Registrar their valid driver's license.

SCCA membership is required for all entrants. Weekend memberships and walk up registration are not available for this event.

 All drivers and passengers are required to wear a helmet. All helmets must meet Snell Foundation standards (SA2015, SA2010, SAH2010)  

Loaner helmets are available. You will be required to wear a head sock (available to purchase onsite for $2.00) if you use a loaner helmet.

This event will be held with safety as a top priority with the following added rules:

You must download and bring this form:  Time Trial Tech Form

  • Participants should arrive with the tech form filled out and signed
  • The red section will be completed on site by the tech inspectors
  • All helmets must meet Snell Foundation standards (SA2015, SA2010, SAH2010). We will have a few loaner helmets available.
  • Long pants, long sleeves, and closed toed shoes are required while driving.
  • All convertible Vehicles (excluding motorcycles) must be equipped with a roll bar. NOTE: Many manufacturers' roll hoops, roll bars designed for street use (non-racing),as well as roll bars that terminate below the top of the Operator's or any passengers' helmets as measured by the "broomstick rule", shall not be approved. Factory or aftermarket hard tops are not considered to be roll over protection.
  •  
  • Two-off or spin rule
    • First two-off or spin will result in a warning or “cooling off” period, at the discretion of event officials
    • Second two-off or spin may result in disqualification from the event
  • One car will be released at a time. There will not be another car in proximity to another on course.
  • Volunteer instructors will be available during the un-timed sessions.
  • VIR fire and ems will be on site in case of emergency
  • All participants or accompanying parties will be required to sign in at the front gate of Virginia International Raceway when entering the track.
  • Lodging will be available at VIR. Please contact the track at 434-822-7700. Camping will also be available for tents and RV's. VIR will charge you for camping at the gate.
