AudiTron 2022 HPDE

Thunderhill Raceway Park

About this event

Join Audi Club Golden Gate at AudiTron, its annual High Performance Driving Event, at Thunderhill Raceway Park, May 7 & 8, 2022 in Willows, California. All marques are welcome! If it is your first time or your tenth time attending an Audi Club driving event, we are confident that you will have a great time! This event is open to all skill levels and we will have different run groups to accommodate everyone. Read on for more details!

Note: For those craving even more track time, or further incentive for those traveling from afar, there is a rare opportunity to make it a four-day track event by signing up with Hooked on Driving on Thursday and Friday.

Each student, regardless of level, will drive their own car on the track, assigned and accompanied by an Audi Club instructor, to provide expert guidance to improve the student's driving skills.

First-timers and beginners will spend Saturday morning in a classroom session followed by practical car control exercises where they will develop skills, learn about their car and its dynamics. An instructor will observe their progress during the car control exercises and provide feedback after each session. The classes and exercises are designed to provide foundational knowledge and enhance the driver's car control skills in a safe and controlled environment.

Run Groups

  • Students are aggregated into run groups that allow them to drive on the track at the same time with other drivers that have similar experience.
  • First-timers and beginning students will always have an instructor in the car during on track sessions.
  • Novice, intermediate and advanced drivers will be assigned an instructor.
  • Depending on the skill level demonstrated to the instructor during the event, some students may be approved/signed off to drive solo in the car on the track without an instructor.

Track Information

To ensure that the club provides each student with a safe and secure environment, passing is only permitted on designated sections of the track and under controlled circumstances. The race track does not have side streets, stop lights, pedestrians, or any of the other distractions that are encountered while driving on public streets. Therefore, time spent on the track provides a great opportunity for each participant to learn advanced driving techniques safely and to explore the capabilities of both driver and car.

There are three racetracks at Thunderhill Raceway Park. We will be running the eastern 3.0-mile counter-clockwise configuration track. This is an SCCA track that includes several elevation changes, short and long straight sections, and a number of technical turns. It is considered to be one of the safest and best tracks in America for drivers to improve their driving skills. This unique combination of safety and complexity creates the recipe for a great driving experience.

Helmets will be available to rent: single-day $30 or $50 for both days.

You will leave the track at the end of the day with driving skills and more confidence in your car that will benefit your daily driving experience.
