Audi Instructor Clinic & Advanced Driver Day 2022: For Instructors and Advanced Drivers at Thunderhill West 2-Mile Sponsored by TOYO Tires.
Welcome to the registration for “Audi Instructor Clinic & Advanced Driver Day 2022”. This ONE-day Instructor Clinic and High Performance Driving Event will be held August 21st on the twisty West Side course at Thunderhill Raceway Park.
What is “Audi Instructor Clinic & Advanced Driver Day 2022”
Golden Gate Chapter travels to the 2-mile course at Thunderhill Raceway Park, outside of Willows California. The 2022 Audi Instructor Clinic & Advanced Driver Day event is for advanced drivers, instructors, and instructor candidates. If you are interested in becoming an Audi Club instructor, or just want to refresh your MSF Level-2 status, this is the event for you. There will be no student-instructor pairings outside of the Instructor Clinic role-play sessions. As such, all participants must be deemed safe to drive “solo” on the 2-mile West Course at Thunderhill. For solo drivers who have not driven Thunderhill West, limited demonstration laps or coaching with Golden Gate Chapter instructors may be available (but not guaranteed) upon request. Please review the detailed requirements as part of the registration process. Contact the registrar if you are unsure if you can register.
Thunderhill West provides a special and unique location to learn about your car and yourself and also to raise your driving skills and awareness in an environment that is fun and safe. You will also be able to meet and socialize with a diverse group of Audi Club enthusiasts who drive many different brands of cars, so don’t hesitate to join us if your chosen vehicle is not an Audi.
Lots of Track Time!
At the 2022 Audi Instructor Clinic & Advanced Driver Day the focus will be on instructor refresher training and new instructor induction. With only two run groups you can expect to benefit from at least five 20+ minute on-track sessions during the day.
Driver Qualification Requirements
For the safety of all, registrants must fulfill one or more of the following criteria:
- Solo’d at a previous Audi Club Golden Gate Chapter event on the 2-mile course at Thunderhill.
- Solo’d at previous Audi Club events on at least two other tracks (subject to pre-approval from Chief Instructor)
- Solo’d on the 2-mile course at Thunderhill at a previous event with another driving club (subject to verification by Chief Instructor)
If you are unsure about your status or wish to obtain pre-approval, please contact the club’s Chief Instructor, David Vrane.
Drivers will be aggregated into Run Groups which will be established to allow them to be on track with other drivers of similar experience. Limited demonstration laps or coaching with Golden Gate Chapter instructors may be available (but not guaranteed) for drivers who so wish. Please inform the event master as soon as possible if you would like demo laps or coaching.

Event Details
The event will take place on Sunday, August 21, 2022. Check-in will open at 7:00 am and there will be a mandatory All Drivers’ Meeting at 7:45 am. All cars must have passed a technical inspection prior to participant registration and each participant must show documentation of the inspection. ACGG will not be carrying out any Tech inspections at the track for this event.
The track will open at approximately 6:30 am on August 21st. Lunch will be served at the track, and is included in the registration price. The track will close at approximately 6pm. There will be no social activities organized for this event beyond the Instructor Clinic classroom sessions. More details will be sent to you as part of the welcome packet, which will arrive by email, approximately one week prior to the event.
Costs and other details
Thanks to sponsorship from Toyo Tires, registration is capped at $199.
The registration fee includes morning coffee and donuts/pastries, lunch at the track, and water available all day at the track.

Who are we?
The Audi Club Golden Gate is a chapter of the Audi Club of North America (ACNA), which is a 501c(3) non-profit organization with the purpose of educating its members in driver education, driver safety training, and education about the Audi brand. The Audi Club Golden Gate serves the members in Northern California, and Northern Nevada areas, but our events are open to anyone. To support the educational experience, Audi Club Golden Gate offers a variety of different types of events for our members. In addition to HPDEs, we also offer our members access to new product launches at local dealerships, technical seminars, fun drives, social events, tours, etc. Audi Club Golden Gate enjoys an excellent level of support and participation in our events from our sponsors. We often offer special arrangements with these Audi dealerships, and well recognized private service centers around the geographic proximity to Northern California. Many of our sponsors offer discounts to club members.
As a member of ACNA, you automatically become a member of the Audi Club Golden Gate if you live in the two states listed above. You will receive a quarterly magazine from ACNA, as well as periodic emails from us to keep you up to date on all the scheduled events happening throughout the year. Mingle with other Audi owners and club members for new friendships and lasting memories.

Event requirements
BEFORE REGISTERING, please review the following requirements and information
- Must be a current member of the Audi Club North America. If you are not a current member, please click on the following link and become a member Join ACNA. Please send a copy of your membership email confirmation to the event master so that your member number can be obtained and added to your MotorsportReg.com profile quickly.
- All registrants must be 16+ years old licensed driver.
The registration process will automatically validate your ACNA membership with the membership database which is held at Audi Club North America. The date of the scheduled event is compared with your current membership expiration date, and the name that you’ve entered in your MotorsportReg profile. If your name matches, and your registration expires after the start of the event, you will be allowed to register. If either one of these checks fails to successfully validate your membership, then you’ll receive an error message. If you get an error message - PLEASE CANCEL YOUR REGISTRATION IMMEDIATELY and contact the event master.

Vehicle Requirements:
- This event at Thunderhill Raceway Park is officially designated a 103dB sound-check day. If your car's exhaust system is altered, please come prepared with additional equipment to reduce the exhaust note of your car. There are opportunities to pass this sound check, but the sound limit is a requirement of Glenn County, and consistent violators will be subject to limitation of their participation - without refund.
- Certain SUVs and other high center-of-gravity vehicles will be allowed. Please contact the event master prior to registering.
- Each car must have passed a Technical Inspection (you are required to have your car inspected by a qualified expert, at an Audi dealer or at one of ACGG's independent shop sponsors) during the 30 days prior to the event.
- A failure to meet safety checks or by submitting an incomplete Technical Inspection form will disqualify drivers from event and cause a forfeiture of entry fee.
Helmet Requirements:
- Participants must wear helmets bearing Snell SA 2015 certification or Snell SA 2020 certification. Motorcycle helmets will not be accepted. The Snell certification MUST BE visible for the helmet to be allowed. Helmets will be available to rent from Audi Club Golden Gate Chapter at this event.
